Job Title: Staff Software Architect

THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a Staff Architect, you will be a pivotal member of our Architecture Team, helping shape the technical vision and strategy for multiple product areas. This role offers the opportunity to make a profound impact on our product, our teams, and our company by leveraging your experience, knowledge, and leadership to guide the development of scalable, reliable, and innovative software solutions.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
We are seeking a forward-thinking Staff Architect with experience building and leading large-scale high-performing systems. You should bring a tenured, outside perspective to elevate our engineering practices and guide multiple teams in achieving technical and business objectives.
The ideal candidate will:
- Cover the product surfaces supported by two or more teams, demonstrating exceptional expertise in their areas.
- Provide technical leadership to development teams, focusing on how components within the supported areas integrate and interact.
- Collaborate with Software Architects to develop long-term technical strategies for the product.
- Carry the vision for the supported areas, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical excellence.
- Understand the technical implications of business requirements and guide teams in creating Feature Development Plans (FDP).
- Review and contribute to FDPs from other teams, offering recommendations to drive consistency and quality across the platform.
- Evaluate tools and techniques best suited for various projects and provide recommendations to architecture leadership.
- Lead a group of Software Architects, fostering their technical growth, coordination, and collaboration.
- Take ownership of monitoring and maintaining the health and performance of assigned areas, including defining Service-Level Objectives and incident management plans.
- Contribute to product-wide initiatives from the Architecture Backlog and ensure alignment across teams.
- Anticipate and address cross-functional needs that benefit the business as a whole.
THE TEAM:
Our Salesloft’s Engineering team is composed of seasoned and up-and-coming Software Engineers and Architects who are all aligned on one mission: to redefine the Sales Engagement space and activate the authentic seller in all of us.
The Engineering team consists of Full Stack engineers, UI Engineers, and Architects who work in all areas of the product, with the opportunity to develop in-depth expertise in an area of the platform. THE SKILL SET:
- 10+ years of experience building large-scale web applications.
- Expertise in designing and implementing scalable, distributed systems.
- Experience with technologies like Ruby on Rails, Elixir, Golang, React, and Angular.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Postgres (Citus), ElasticSearch, and Kafka.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and architects, fostering technical growth.
- Exceptional communication skills and a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
WITHIN ONE MONTH, YOU’LL:
- Attend Salesloft’s New Hire Orientation, where you will learn our Salesloft story and understand what makes our “Lofters” unique
- Attend the half day introduction to Salesloft Engineering, where you will get a high level introduction to the architecture of the platform and learn the basic processes of the Engineering Team.
- Begin 1:1’s with your manager, understand your 30-6-90 plan, and be assigned to a development team.
- Set your OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) with your manager and develop an action plan to achieve them
- Regularly commit production code
WITHIN THREE MONTHS, YOU’LL:
- Be very knowledgeable of your team(s)’ surface area.
- Be able to take significant ownership for developing a new feature
- Understand the technical implications of the business requirements and work with your team(s) to develop Feature Development Plans (FDP).
WITHIN SIX MONTHS, YOU’LL:
- Cover the product surfaces supported by two or more teams and demonstrate exceptional level of expertise in the systems that make up your coverage areas.
- Be a major contributor to team planning and execution
- Guide each team’s development efforts focusing on how the components within the team's area work together. Work closely with those teams' Software Architect on long term technical strategy.
- Evaluate the tools and techniques that are best suited for any given project and provide recommendations to architecture leadership.
- Be mentoring support engineers on engineering practices and coding standards
- Achieve the results defined in your first set of OKRs
