MongoDB is seeking an experienced Staff Product Manager to drive the vision and execution of our core database capabilities, with a focus on enterprise-grade availability, reliability, and operational excellence. This role will be instrumental in shaping the future of MongoDB as we continue our journey to becoming the standard database platform for modern applications.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Charlotte, NC for our hybrid working model.

Role Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the strategic roadmap for MongoDB's core database capabilities, with particular focus on workload management, operational resilience, and enterprise-grade availability
  • Lead planning and execution of major database initiatives across engineering teams, architecting solutions that meet enterprise needs while maintaining MongoDB's developer experience
  • Define and implement concrete, measurable KPIs for database reliability, focusing on monitoring and performance during high-load scenarios
  • Translate enterprise customer requirements into specific, actionable product improvements that reduce operational complexity
  • Partner with engineering leadership to define and execute on technical strategy
  • Act as the subject-matter expert for Database Reliability, helping Sales, Support, Customer Success, and Product Marketing teams address complex customer scenarios
  • Produce regular artifacts and documentation to support cross-functional teams and drive execution
  • Analyze market trends and competitive offerings to inform product strategy and roadmap
  • Create compelling technical content to establish MongoDB's thought leadership in database reliability

Requirements

  • Strong collaboration skills with highly empowered engineering teams
  • Proven track record of shipping concrete solutions in complex technical environments
  • Deep technical understanding of distributed systems, database internals, and enterprise architecture
  • Strong analytical skills with bias for action
  • Excellence in translating customer pain points into specific, measurable product improvements
  • Experience creating clear technical specifications and documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to break down complex technical initiatives into actionable steps
  • 7+ years of product management experience with focus on databases, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure
  • Experience working directly with enterprise customers on technical solutions
  • Track record of successful cross-functional collaboration

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.
