The Role
The Value Metrics ML teams within the Product AI organization play a key role in developing advanced ML solutions for value predictions, providing critical insights for strategic investment decisions and supporting various business operations. We build company-wide predictive value metrics that inform global planning and operations at Square. Additionally, we develop early value models for go-to-market teams, powering data-driven marketing and sales strategies. Our models utilize a range of techniques, from classical methods like XGBoost to deep learning approaches such as neural networks. We work closely with stakeholders across finance, sales, marketing, product management, account management, and risk while driving innovation in data infrastructure and ML solutions.
We're seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer (Modeling) with deep expertise in value metrics (just like you!) to help expand Square's value metrics.
You Will
- Be a leader in the value metrics predictions space to drive Square's growth.
- Build and enhance end-to-end ML solutions that will power Square's core value prediction system for both potential and existing customers.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, Sales, Marketing, and other GTM teams to refine our growth strategy and support investment decisions with data-driven insights.
- Work with third-party data providers to complete the data loop for accurate value predictions.
- Stay on top of the latest advancements in ML, applying them to continuously evolve our measurement system.
You Have
- 8+ years of experience in ML software development with a strong track record of designing and maintaining production-grade machine learning systems.
- Deep expertise in the full ML lifecycle, including project setup, data pipelines, model training/serving, and monitoring.
- Specialized in lifetime value and similar value prediction systems using classical and deep learning methods, with hands-on experience applying them in business contexts.
- Passionate about shaping the team's direction and inspiring others to contribute.
- Eager to share ideas and embrace diverse perspectives.
- Strong communicator, adept at engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
