When you join our team, you become part of the leader in Zero Trust Segmentation. You will build highly scalable and available cloud-based and customer-hosted services for Illumio’s Zero Trust Platform. You will have complete ownership of some microservices and be responsible for all aspects of design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring. You will also contribute to shared platform components and modules 

Your Impact: 

  • You will develop platform components and microservices for a distributed, resilient, and highly scalable multi-tenant system. This system processes real-time network telemetry and computes adaptive security policies for millions of servers, endpoints, and cloud workloads.
  • You will write code primarily in Ruby, use PostgreSQL and Redis in the data layer, and leverage Kubernetes in public clouds for our infrastructure. We welcome engineers with backgrounds in any high-level language and a desire to learn.

  • You will own the entire software development lifecycle for critical features and services. You will partner with Product Management to refine requirements, own functional, integration, and performance testing to ensure our products are robust and resilient, and work with CloudOps to ensure the successful deployment and customer adoption of your work.

  • Lead customer escalations, performing in-depth troubleshooting and root-cause analysis to ensure successful, timely issue resolution and optimal customer outcomes.

  • Participate in high-profile customer calls, offering technical and architectural guidance to support customer deployments, use cases, scalability and performance.

  • Collaborate with engineering and support teams to resolve complex technical challenges and communicate clear, actionable solutions to customers and internal stakeholders.

Your Toolkit: 

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent degree.

  • 7+ years of experience building distributed & scalable software and systems.

  • Passion for software development and a willingness to constantly learn, keep up with technological trends, and work in a team setting.

  • Experience building API-based webservices in a higher-level language and a desire to learn Ruby.

  • Experience with PostgreSQL and Redis or similar database and caching technologies.

  • AWS / Azure /GCP cloud experience:

    • Extensively used one of these platforms at the API/programming level

    • Experience with networking and security controls is a plus.

  • Experience delivering a containerized service running on Kubernetes in public clouds is a plus.

  • Experience with networking and network security is a plus. 

Compensation:

$192,000 - $230,000 USD

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities of the job, education, location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal equity, alignment with market data, or applicable laws.
