Lead a team of Special Process engineers to support the daily operation needs. Develop innovative solutions and new approaches to engineering problems to determine the sequence of steps or processes required to Heat Treat, Plate and/or Paint products that meet the organization’s standards of quality and cost.

  • Analyze more complex product specifications, parts drawings and other engineering data to develop new production processes, estimate time requirements for each step, and prepare operation sheets.
  • Analyze existing production processes and develop recommendations for changes to working methods or operation sequences that will minimize risks, costs, and wastage; increase yields and productivity; and improve the quality and consistency of final products.
  • Lead, direct and evaluate a team of Engineers to ensure the organization’s engineering strategy is implemented effectively within established budgets and the organization complies with all relevant regulations, laws and standards.
  • Lead person for engineering issues and improvement project with customers.
  • Maintain and update Special Processes procedures, instructions and standard work.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced Special Process engineers.
  • Establish and maintain good safety and housekeeping practices among employee.

Qualification and Education Requirements

Minimum Education required (specific field or equivalent):

  • Engineering Degree preferable in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Aerospace. Education required may be waived with related work experience.

Minimum years of experience in role:

  • At least 8 years of relevant working experience in the Special Process Manufacturing Industry.

Preferred Skills (if any):

  • Technically competent with the ability to adapt to a changing business environment.
  • Good people management and leadership skills.
  • Effective communications skills and ability to interact with all levels.
  • Good coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications.

General role in supporting CORE, EH&S, Ethics & Compliance and Quality initiatives

CORE:

  • Establish a culture of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Minimum CORE Champion certification.

EH&S:

  • Establish a Behavior Based Safety and personal accountability culture.
  • Empower line supervisors/managers to stop production when safety is compromised and ensure that actions are in place before restarting production.

Ethics & Export Compliance:

  • Provide resources to complete annual and targeted training and a retaliation free environment for reporting violation.

Quality:

  • Supports a Quality first culture through continuous improvement, focus build-in process quality and zero escape mindset.
