Staff Engineer - PHP

As a Staff PHP Software Engineer, you’ll lead through challenging development projects. Come join a highly collaborative team of skilled engineers with a passion for quality.  

Responsibilities: 

• Optimize monolithic legacy codebases and newer repositories using PHP(Symfony)  
• Work in an agile environment with Product Managers in completing user stories
• Integrate and design highly scalable/transaction heavy API based applications such as Restful APIs and designing JSON payloads
• Manage the full-stack (Front-end/Back-end) team members through projects in:
• React/Angular (maintenance)
• MooTools/Jquery (deprecation)
• Cooperate with QA, Application Support, and DevOps teams to triage bugs
• Coordinate with other Engineering Leads/Managers in the same or different functions
• Convert complex business rules and workflows from User Story requirements into bespoke Sales Force type CRM applications
• Work with large database schemas that would include adding and updating tables and rows using MySql
• Write Unit tests and Documentation 

Minimum Technical Qualifications: 

• 8 years’ experience with OOP
• 8 years’ experience and an expert in PHP
• 8 years’ experience with SQL
• 6 years’ experience with REST API
• 6 years’ experience with Symfony/Frameworks
• 8 years’ experience with Linux
• 4 years’ experience with Azure/Cloud
• 4 years’ experience with system and API design
• 2+ years’ experience with Javascript (React/Node)
• 2+ years’ experience with Redis/Caching

Preferred Technical Qualifications: 

• 4 years’ experience with RabbitMQ
• 2 years’ experience with CosmosDB/NoSQL
• Experience with Solid React

Required Soft Skills: 

• Effective communication skills to explain ideas and processes to others on your team and other departments.
• Planning and managing projects, tracking progress, and adjusting priorities as needed
• Strong leadership and team management and be able to motivate and guide their team towards achieving common goals.
• Strong sense of judgement when approaching challenges and decision making.
• Think strategically and work with senior leadership to execute products to build Guidepoint’s business.
