About the team:

eBay Design seeks a versatile Staff Design Technologist experienced in collaborating with design teams to develop internal tools and enterprise products. Comfortable across various web and native stacks, you'll thrive in learning new technologies and problem-solving through rapid exploration.

About the Role:

In this role, you’ll advocate for Design Technology, fostering relationships with Design, Engineering and Business partners to ensure our product consistently exceeds an ever-higher bar of quality and innovation. We're seeking a self-directed individual passionate about creating immersive experiences with the expertise to bring them to life.

  • Support eBay Design's mission to reimagine the company's future by delivering inspiring, world-class customer experiences

  • Develop internal tools, applications and APIs to enhance design and engineering workflows

  • Drive eBay's design objectives forward through a passion for coding and expertise in front-end development

  • Play an active role in shaping the future of eBay's Design Technology team by fostering essential collaborations with design, engineering and product partners

What you will accomplish:

  • Engage in diverse projects spanning various technology stacks, supporting both web and native development teams

  • Create custom tools, automations and APIs to streamline design and engineering workflows

  • Collaborate closely with designers and product leads to translate concepts into sophisticated, interactive prototypes

  • Actively participate in concept development and design iteration, using code to explore and validate new features and products

  • Champion Design Technology at eBay by consistently delivering work that inspires and demonstrates its value

  • Serve as a liaison between design and development, ensuring the integrity of design vision through meticulously crafted, production-ready code

What you will bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in front-end or full-stack development, UI engineering, design technology, or similar roles

  • Proficiency in modern web development technologies such as JavaScript (ES6), TypeScript, and various JS frameworks and tools

  • Hands-on experience in building Figma plugins and using the Figma API

  • Demonstrated expertise in working with and constructing APIs, including REST and GraphQL

  • Familiarity with animation tools and libraries such as Three.js, WebGL, GSAP, Lottie, and Rive

  • Working knowledge of Git/Github and proficiency in common Git workflows

  • Proficiency in setting up and managing production deployment pipelines, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes and related tools and practices

  • Proficiency in leading design tools like Figma, Creative Cloud, etc.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in native development, especially Swift/SwiftUI, or Android Compose

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$156,000 - $245,300

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
