Staff Accountant (8 Month Contract)
The Staff Accountant is responsible for transaction processing, accounting analysis, reporting and other administrative duties in the Corporate Finance Department. The Staff Accountant is also involved with continuous process improvements and department projects.
The Staff Accountant may be assigned to various functions, including: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger / Reconciliation, Global Programs, Payroll or Global Entities.
As development opportunities arise, the Staff Accountant may rotate through one or more Corporate Finance functions listed above.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Transaction Processing and Administration
- Process financial transactions and/or data input on admin systems (e.g. banking portals, Concur, SUN A/R, Sharepoint).
- Identify, investigate and resolve transaction discrepancies in a timely manner, or escalate as appropriate.
- Handle routine accounting or administrative inquiries and respond to stakeholders in a thoughtful manner.
- Identify and implement continuous process and efficiency improvements.
Accounting, Journal Entries and Reconciliation
- Prepare SUN Balance Sheet and P&L journal entries, including cash/banking, fees, billing, payment, accruals, fixed assets, intercompany and adjustments; provide source documents and back-up in Sharepoint.
- Document and maintain accounting models to ensure transactions are properly recorded; update Accounting Policy Manual as required.
- Use Blackline to reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts on a periodic basis.
- Support internal and external audit / tax requests for back-up and documentation.
- Support commodity tax filings in various jurisdictions.
Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze accounting data to identify trends and issues – “own the numbers”.
- Develop and produce reports to support key business insights and decisions, leverage technology where possible.
- Support Corporate Finance dashboard development and updates.
Continuous Process Improvement and Projects
- Review and document existing accounting processes and procedures; recommend changes to improve overall efficiency.
- Develop and maintain control procedures and systems.
- Participate in team and department projects.
- Act as back-up to other team members, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
- 2-3 years of accounting experience.
- Completion or working towards professional accounting designation.
- University degree in Business, Finance or Accounting major.
- Experience and knowledge of a computerized GL / accounting system (experience with SUN is an asset).
- MS Excel (Advanced), Word, SharePoint.
- Preferred: MS Excel Macros, VBA, SQL, PowerBI, Dodeca, and HFM.

- Ability to manage time effectively and accordingly handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with high level of accuracy.
- Working competence in a second language would be an asset.
This role will be a Hybrid working model, which will require 3 days per week in the Four Seasons Corporate Office located at 1165 Leslie Street, Toronto, Ontario #LI-Hybrid
