Staff Accountant

SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This is a fantastica opportunity for an accomplished accountant to manage a significant volume of transactions requiring fast decision making and will be an initiative-taker who enjoys working as an individual contributor supporting the department at-large. This position requires strong analytical skills, technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic environment.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
 

• Must be able to reconcile general ledger cash accounts to bank statements within an ERP system, preferably NetSuite.
• This role is analytical and will research and reconcile all cash application related variances in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Investigate and resolve payment escalation and discrepancy inquiries related to cash application from internal teams and regular individual research.
• Research remittance and transaction details to resolve unapplied cash, unidentified cash, and payment variations.
• Prepare weekly cashflow forecast.
• Work with other departments to establish credit limits for new customers.
• Responsible and accountable for self-actions, decisions, and performance, both in terms of achieving objectives and adhering to agreed-upon standards, guidelines, and expectations.
• Assists with the external audit schedules.
• Duties require broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex issues.
• Ad hoc reporting as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:
 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is a must with a minimum of 3 years of experience, CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Previous retail industry experience preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in NetSuite strongly preferred and Microsoft Excel required. Power BI experience is a plus.
• Experience working in a SOX environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be analytical and detail oriented and possess excellent documentation skills.
• Expected to serve as a resource to others for knowledge transfer, training and checking work. May occasionally lead a special project or team.
• Ability to interact effectively with various levels of staff and management across departments.
• Strong attention to detail, as well as demonstrated problem-solving and independent decision-making capabilities.
• Exceptional organization, time-management, and prioritization skills, as well as on-the-job flexibility and ability to work under tight deadlines
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
