The Staff Accountant will provide support to the Accounting and Finance department by performing day to day accounting functions, as well as operational internal controls. The Accountant will also work closely with cross-functional teams such as Sales, and Customer Success.
Day to day responsibilities:
- Assist in the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close procedures, including preparation of monthly journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations and preparation of finance reporting packages.
- Prepare monthly revenue recognition including revenue related reconciliations.
- Leading annual external audit.
- Prepare transactional level reconciliation between internal database and Salesforce.
- Partner with the Sales team to create invoices and tracking the receivables.
- Contract administration.
- Manage monthly/quarterly sales tax returns.
- Help with implementations, maintenance and adherence to internal controls.
- Proactively identify issues and implement process improvements to streamline accounting processes.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end GAAP financial statements and schedules.
- Prepare supporting schedules for annual audit.
- Assist with tax preparation.
- Maintain vendor information and 1099 process.
- Manage payroll and contractor payments.
- Assist on projects and ad hoc assignments as needed.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting; CPA preferred, but not required.
- 3 years + professional accounting experience (SaaS companies preferred but not required).
- Strong analytical and quantitative ability.
- Organized, disciplined, detail and process-oriented.
- Familiarity and comfort dealing with journal entries.
- An excellent communicator with the ability to work effectively at all levels within the organization in a remote setting.
