Intern for the World’s Leading Dog and Cat Products Supplier

As an intern at PetSafe Brands, you can expect to experience: 

• Coffee & Conversation: Throughout your time with us, you’ll have the opportunity to sit with different leaders across the organization in a panel discussion over coffee to ask questions about our culture, products, and their role at PetSafe Brands. 
• Training: You’ll receive training throughout your internship in the areas of PetSafe Brands culture, goal setting, presentation skills, and you’ll have the opportunity to practice the information you learn on the job! 
• Collaboration: You will be given opportunity to work cross functionally throughout PSB and gain experience working with different business units on a daily basis!

What projects/responsibilities would this intern be learning and taking on?:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant Summer Intern to join our finance team for the summer. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting processes, financial reporting, and analysis. You will work closely with our accounting team and contribute to daily tasks, helping to ensure accurate financial data and smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with Financial Record Keeping: Support the accounting team with tasks such as data entry, maintaining accurate ledgers, and ensuring all transactions are recorded properly.
• Assist in Financial Reporting: Help prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements. Provide data analysis and report any discrepancies.
• Account Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling accounts, including bank accounts, general ledger, and other related transactions.
• Support Month-End and Year-End Closing: Assist with the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, including journal entries, accruals, and financial adjustments.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Help analyze financial data to identify trends and discrepancies. Provide insights for decision-making and reporting purposes.
• Assist with Audit Preparation: Help prepare documentation and schedules for internal and external audits. Support the auditing team by gathering necessary information.
• General Administrative Tasks: Provide administrative support to the accounting department, including filing, organizing financial documents, and other ad-hoc tasks.

Qualifications:

• Education: Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Junior, Rising Senior or Graduate status preferred.
• Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Familiarity with accounting software is a plus (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar)
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• Experience: Previous internship or coursework in accounting or finance is a plus but not required.
