The Staff Accountant performs a variety of duties for the Affiliate Department for multiple entities, such as the recording and processing of financial information, preparing financial reports and ledgers, and reconciling accounts. The Staff Accountant will also assist the Accounting Manager with research and resolution of discrepancies. The Staff Accountant can also expect to handle communications with vendors, clients, and internal departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Data entry, processing, and recording accounting transactions
- Processing supplier invoices for payment within Workday
- Create ad hoc bank transactions in Workday
- Reviewing invoices input into in the system for accounting accuracy as well as proper recording within the general ledger
- Preparing settlement runs for approval and printing checks upon approval
- Prepare monthly sales tax report and file sales tax
- Receive Housing checks, deposit and create aging and commission report
- Run recurring journal entries and prepaid amortization
- Prepare certain customer invoices and recording of payments received
- Preparing bi-weekly Affiliate Book to Bank report and Affiliate Flash report
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual financial statements for affiliate entities
- Prepares quarterly Affiliate Debt report
- Prepares annual Affiliate Property tax report
- Other duties and projects as assigned

Competencies:
- Solid communication skills, with proficiency in speaking and writing
- Complete or comprehensive understanding of accounting practices and procedures
- Organization, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, productivity and dependability
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma
- 3 - 5 years of experience in accounting
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting an advantage
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- N/A
Computer/Equipment Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Significant experience with software applications such as Great Plains and Workday
Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:
Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication, and access, input and retrieve information from the computer system. May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
