Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare Medicaid cost reports for ambulance providers.
- Reconcile expenditures, fixed assets, and other reconciliations as needed.
- Provide general ledger and reporting assistance to financial staff.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures and recommend accounting process improvements.
- Assist with the Medicaid cost report audit support and documentation.
- Review and update policy and procedure guides for cost reports and audits.
- Responsibilities may change as the department and PCG grow and as deemed necessary by management.
- Supervise accounting staff
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Ability to analyze account fluctuations and year-to-year variances.
- Ability to identify unusual items or issues and to correct them going forward.
- Ensure reporting is consistent with GAAP policy.
- Effective ability to prioritize and manage multiple activity streams.
- Must have the ability to manage task load.
- Must maintain attention to detail at all times.
- Excellent organizational skills, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Excel.
- Possess discretion to work with confidential information.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field; Master’s degree in accounting or related field preferred
Experience
· Experience with GAAP principles
· Experience with project accounting.
· Experience with Medicare or Medicaid cost reporting preferred
· Experience with Medicare regulations and reimbursement manual
· Experience with applicable Federal and State Medicaid policies and regulations relating to healthcare reimbursement
· Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience with 1-2 years Medicare and/or Medicaid cost reporting preferred
