Are you a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer Consultant looking for a dynamic opportunity in the heart of New York City? We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional to join our team on a 12-plus-month contract, working on-site five days per week. This is a chance to apply your extensive IT expertise in a fast-paced environment where you'll work closely with top clients in the utilities sector.

As a Sr. Systems Engineer, you will be critical in managing and optimizing systems, ensuring smooth operations, and providing top-tier customer support. Position Details

Duration: 12+ Months
Location: New York City (On-site, 5 days per week)
Interview Process: 1st round – Video, 2nd round – On-Site
Note: Local candidates only, utilities experience preferred
Background Check: Selected candidates must pass the NERC CIP Personnel Risk Assessment
References: Two references from your most recent roles will be required
MUST HAVE DRIVER'S LICENSE!!!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Windows Server/Desktop operating systems, user administration, file system, and software management
  • Server storage management and RAID configuration
  • Active Directory management, including backup, recovery, and GPO setup
  • Understanding of networking concepts such as DHCP, DNS, Routing, and Firewall configuration
  • Security principles, including ACL, encryption, and fundamental networking security
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell, bash, ksh, or perl to automate routine tasks
  • System health monitoring and performance optimization
  • Disaster recovery planning and backup/restore for systems, applications, and data
  • Managing patch and firmware installation
  • End-user support with a strong customer service mindset

The successful candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple assignments while meeting deadlines. We value integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to make informed business decisions.
 

This is an hourly position with opportunity for overtime.

Mandatory Qualifications: (Please read carefully. They MUST be shown on your resume)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of IT support experience
  • Strong technical knowledge across computing platforms, including servers, networks, and storage
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation
  • Ability to lift and transport server equipment
  • Flexibility to work off-hours and respond to emergencies
  • Ability to travel to various company locations as required

Technical Skills

Must-Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 3-5 years' experience in an enterprise IT environment
  • Expertise in Active Directory and infrastructure monitoring
  • Knowledge of VMware vSphere and Nutanix environments
  • Hyper-V and operating systems management
  • Workstation and server troubleshooting skills

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in 2nd and 3rd-level technical support
  • Familiarity with SQL queries and script writing
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity threats and Splunk
  • Experience with Failover Manager administration and clustering VMware
  • Nutanix management expertise
