Summary

The Sr. Strategic Sourcing Specialist position will be responsible for sourcing activities within the Loitering Munition Systems organization as well as collaborating with other AeroVironment Business Units to leverage sourcing opportunities. You will be responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies to optimize costs, quality, and delivery performance. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to identify opportunities for cost savings, negotiate agreements, and manage supplier relationships. You will also be responsible for monitoring supplier performance and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This position is hybrid.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and promote projects for sourcing strategies to optimize costs, quality, and material availability.to align with LMS business needs.

  • Develop and analyze data to identify opportunities for requirements leveraging, cost reductions, and supply chain efficiencies.

  • Analyze quotes, negotiate price, quantity, and delivery schedules with suppliers.

  • Negotiate Long Term, Blanket Purchase, Master Services, and other strategic Agreements with suppliers.

  • Establish and manage value-driven supplier relationships focused on risk management, reliability, and cost effectiveness.

  • Coordinate with cross functional teams to align goals and mitigate risks associated with the long lead, obsolete, and difficult to source materials.

  • Stay well-informed of industry trends and best practices in strategic sourcing.

  • Provide regular updates to management on sourcing activities and performance metrics.

  • Work with Supplier Quality and Material Program Management to administer supplier audits, and capacity and capability reviews.

  • Improve LMS working capital through Payment Terms extensions, payment cycle optimization, Vendor Managed Inventories and other financial strategies.

  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.

  • Understanding of material forecasting, leveraging of requirements, demand planning, materials management and quality assurance and systems in a production setting

  • Ability to problem solve and lead others in problem-solving activities.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Successfully organizes and prioritizes task in dynamic work environment; Demonstrates competency in analyzing a problem and recommending solutions

  • Works well under pressure with ability to be flexible and accept change

  • Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties

  • Strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives

  • Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products

  • Committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others, and the company

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in an office environment (Constant)

  • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)

Special Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) required.

  • Occasionally may be required to travel within the Continental U.S.

The salary range for this role is:

$97,680 - $138,600
