The Sr Software Test Engineer plays a key role in supporting the design, development, validation and launch of new products and product changes.  This role works with design engineers and project teams to formally test software components, systems, and various other changes.  The role is primarily responsible for developing and executing software test plans to identify software problems and their causes and performs a mentorship role in ensuring design engineers and project teams understand the reasoning of the tests in the test plan.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Work with engineering teams to create and document software test plans.
  • Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, report defects to product teams and cross functional groups.
  • Work with cross functional teams to review requirements and provide test criteria for those requirements. 
  • Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.
  • Monitor bug resolution efforts and track successes.
  • Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, or completeness, or to mitigate risks.
  • Investigate customer problems referred by technical support.
  • Conduct historical analyses of test results.
  • Coordinate user or third-party testing.
  • Collaborate with customer support staff or customers to evaluate or diagnose problems and recommend possible solutions.
  • Develop testing processes that address areas such as database impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability.
  • Ensure internal engineering teams understand the requirements and pass/fail criteria of software test plans.
  • Train, mentor, and coach engineers as part of regular interactions with other engineers/design teams.
  • Work with all levels of engineering and other business units.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related field.
  • 8 years experience in software testing.
  • Experience designing test scripts, developing test plans, writing test reports
  • Experience in agile software development methodologies
  • High understanding of software testing, concepts, practices and lifecycle, programming skills
  • Practical working knowledge of software testing methodology
  • Demonstrated competency in training and mentoring other Engineers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills-RCA (Root Cause Analysis)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including demonstrated success presenting to large groups
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
