Position Overview
Be part of a multi-disciplinary, agile application development team tasked with operating and enhancing an enterprise government system. Your role will be to guide the execution of data modernization efforts, in partnership with product and design team members to shape longer-term goals and initiatives. We work directly with government stakeholders to collaborate and integrate disparate data sources into a modern platform that has direct positive impacts on patients. The project work is entirely remote, though our team likes to gather a few times a year.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement complex software and infrastructure platforms, scope projects, implement code reviews, manage and train engineering teams as needed.
- Work with product and design teams to understand end-user requirements and use cases.
- Develop back-end components to improve responsiveness and overall performance.
- Investigate and debug test failures throughout, updating tests identifying bugs as necessary and provide test coverage analysis based on automated results.
- Work extremely closely with human centered design experts to implement solutions that are intuitive, responsive, and personalized to each customer’s needs.
- Collaborate with various departments such as customer support, marketing, and product development to identify and address customer pain points, optimize customer journeys, and create a seamless experience across all touchpoints.
- Improve functionality of existing systems.
- Coordinate with internal teams to understand user requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Collaborate directly with software engineers, product owners, data engineers, UX/UI developers, AI engineers, business analysts, and other members of the team.
Minimum Responsibilities
- A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 7+ years’ engineering experience.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies like Storybook, Angular, Node.js, React, US Web Design Standards (USWDS).
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD
- Some knowledge of containerization technology (I.e., Docker or Kubernetes).
- Experience developing RESTful API endpoints with object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Java/Spring).
- Strong knowledge and understanding of one or more different agile methodologies, including Scrum, Lean, or SAFe.
- Familiarity with healthcare data and integration, including HL7, FHIR, JSON, XML.
- Understanding of healthcare terminology sets (ICD, SNOMED, CPT/HCPCS, LOINC) and standards of interoperability (HL7v2, FHIR).
- Familiarity with the development and implementation of concept maps, especially with respect to FHIR resources.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work effectively with customers, leads and mentor team memebers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate and motivate teams toward a common goal.
- Experience at CMS (Center of Medicare & Medicaid) or in the health industry is a plus.
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
- Must reside in the Continental US.
- Depending on the government agency, specific requirements may include public trust background check or security clearance.
