Overview

The Sr. Software Engineer will join our team to build the next generation of BY Supply Chain applications. These applications are being built from the ground up to take advantage of current and emerging technologies and practices. Our team pushes the boundaries on how product development is done, encourages you to look at problems in new ways. All along while collaborating on new technologies across BY and internally as well as celebrating each individual’s capabilities.
The ideal candidate should be skilled in development across all layers of the stack from the front-end through to back-end elements such as business logic, API design, algorithms and data stores. The candidate is also expected to have some specialized skills in a few of the layers, such as data technologies, or user interfaces.

We are seeking a talented and driven Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in JavaScript and TypeScript, with expertise in developing scalable front-end applications using React and building robust back-end microservices with Node.js. Additionally, the role requires experience with CI/CD pipelines, specifically leveraging GitHub Actions to streamline development and deployment processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, responsive, and user-friendly front-end applications using React and TypeScript.
  • Implement back-end microservices with Node.js and TypeScript, focusing on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Build, configure, and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ensuring smooth and automated build, test, and deployment workflows.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and reliability across different platforms and browsers.
  • Ensure high code quality by writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to team-wide engineering best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and debug production issues to resolve bugs or bottlenecks effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional work experience.
  • Experience with Agile development (Scrum, XM, or Kanban).
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies.
  • Proficient in developing distributed applications on platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Proficient with Git and version control tools.
  • Familiarity with design patterns and build tools (npm, Yarn, Gradle).
  • Proficiency in React.js and related tools such as Redux, Context API, or React Query.
  • Strong understanding of Node.js, including building RESTful APIs or GraphQL services.
  • Experience with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, particularly with GitHub Actions.
  • Deep understanding of modern front-end development practices, including component-based architecture, state management, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with back-end concepts like message queues, caching strategies, and database interactions (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • Solid understanding of version control systems, especially Git, and collaboration workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality code.
  • Experience with testing frameworks like Jest, Mocha, or Cypress.
  • Advanced English
