About the team and role:

We are the eBay Selling Engineering Team! We are looking for a software engineer to build robust and scalable software, help improve our code services and system architecture, participate in brainstorming sessions and supply ideas to our technology, algorithms and products, and work with the product and design teams to understand end-user requirements, formulate use cases, and deliver results.

What you will accomplish:

  • Design and develop backend systems using JAVA/J2EE, ORACLE, and NOSQL.

  • Analyze and enhance the speed, efficiency, scalability, stability, availability, and security of customer-facing applications and APIs.

  • Develop documentation and testing infrastructure to ensure production-level readiness.

  • Create automation tests in Java, Junit, Selenium, and other internal Java-based automation frameworks for frontend, REST services, and messaging components.

  • Collaborate with product managers, business units, and UI design teams to understand product requirements and translate them into engineering specifications.

What you will bring:

  • Computer Science/Engineering degree with 4+ years of software development experience.

  • Proficiency in Java is essential and hands-on experience with object-oriented design methodology and application development using Java/J2EE, Design Patterns, Spring MVC, SQL, NOSQL DB, and Web services.

  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.

  • Familiarity with micro services and SOA standards such as REST/OAuth/JSON/XML.

  • Experience with Oracle RDBMS, NoSQL DBs including the ability to read and write SQL/NoSQL queries.

  • Experience with Spring and other open-source REST frameworks, development methodologies like Test Driven Development (TDD) and GraphQL is a plus.
