We are looking for our new Potato Senior Scientist - Product Developer M/F/X.
Within the Continental Europe R&D Team, you will have the opportunity to drive regional and global innovation, renovation and research, enabling growth and ensuring business continuity for McCain.
In your role, you will execute high complexity technical projects or milestone within high complexity that contribute to the Innovation and Product improvement Pipeline. You start from ideation, formulation and prototyping, testing in manufacturing environment, analyzing data throughout the stage gate process to the final handover to the manufacturing team.
You will be part of the Research & Development team and report to the R&D Manager. Your main office will be in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France. Travels mainly in Europe and exceptionally in Canada, for customer visits or team meetings are required..
Key responsibilities :
- You generate project briefs and timelines taking into consideration all aspects of the project as project technical lead.
- You develop products through the process in line with project management principles, ensuring systems such as SAP, PLM and IMS are up to date
- You present recommendations to the business on product feasibilities engaging cross-functional support, highlighting risks and challenges with mitigating solutions.
- You develop focused implementation plans with the commercial lead and manufacturing specifically including the agreed specification to ensure a smooth handover to manufacturing.
- You gather a general understanding of the Commercial aspects of projects to allow clear understanding of wider picture surrounding projects
- You consider potential protectable IP throughout the project treating everything as a trade secret until confirmed and be the subject matter expert.
- You manage internal R&D communication within the pan European team and broader regions
- You regularly update the Managers and stakeholders as to status of projects and any changes to milestones
- You proactively maintain technical knowledge considering market advances both internally (globally) and externally sharing relevant information with the team.
- You continuing to improve work practices suggesting ideas and leading change with guidance
Qualifications:
- You have more than 5 years of experience in food science or technology, with experience & passion for R&D, understand R&D processes
- You are a fast-paced commercially driven Product Developer, working on all aspects in the development process including concept development, process development, factory/line trials, specifications and first production runs.
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization. You are fluent in English; French is a plus.
- You know how to adjust technical knowledge to products variety.
