About the position:
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Legal Recovery Manager as well as liaising with their peers, and/or other departments as required. The Legal Recovery Analyst is responsible for the successful recovery of bad debt accounts by establishing effective contact and negotiations, or by commencing litigation to effect recovery of bad debt. The candidate will have knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Rules. In addition, the Legal Recovery analyst will be familiar with the skip tracing tools.
A regular day for you would look like this:
- Collection & Recovery of bad debt files
- Conduct skip tracing, investigatory work in identifying assets for garnishment and/or repossession of collateral.
- Track and locate debtors for recovery using advanced skip tracing tools and techniques, determining employment, earnings, liabilities, assets, and ability to pay.
- Oversee and update customer files to ensure data consistency; document all call activity details in the internal database to reflect any action taken, e.g., commitments to pay and/or amounts and dates agreed upon.
- Following up to ensure Judgment & execution of garnishments and/or repossession.
- Assess and mitigate risk by referring accounts for further legal action.
- Complete other skip tracing responsibilities, as assigned.
- Prepare and file of proof of claim on behalf of Eden Park within the prescribed period.
- Liaison with the Bankruptcy Trustee as required to ensure effective and on time submission of our claim.
- Any denials by the Trustee are reported immediately to Management.
- Prepare and submit warranty rebates to the warranty vendor to obtain the probated refund.
- Track and record all the warranty rebates submitted to ensure effective recovery.
- Ensuring secure process delivery while complying with “PIPEDA” and “The Privacy Act”
- Perform regulatory standards and best practices on creditor accounts.
Must-haves!
- Comprehensive knowledge of collections and skip tracing including excellent analytical, research, investigative and organizational skills
- Strong understanding of the legal process as it relates to collections Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to write detailed comprehensive reports
- Must be discreet and comfortable handling sensitive information.
- Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
- Solid attention to detail and time management skills
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, adaptive environment
- Ability to collaborate well with various teams and departments
- Good math skills with the ability to perform basic calculations quickly
Extra-awesome to have:
- At least 2+ years of prior experience in at least one of the following core areas: Small Claims Court Procedures; investigations, skip tracing, consumer collections and/or consumer loan industry considered an asset
- Some University and/or College education in Paralegal Studies including holding a Paralegal License with the Law Society is considered an asset
