We’re actively seeking a talented Sr Private Placement Investment Operations Analyst I to join our Fixed Income Operations team in Newport Beach, CA. This role is hybrid. We believe in empowering our employees to get work done both in and out of the office.

As a Sr Private Placement Investment Operations Analyst I, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by contributing to the efficient handling of complex Private Placement and Alternative investment activity, including the timely capture of  Security Master and Trade data. You will fill a role that sits on a team of currently 7 people in the Pacific Life Investment division.
How you’ll help move us forward:

•    Process trades related to privately placed fixed income, alternative investments, and structured products to support the general account investment portfolio.
•    Work closely with Internal and External counsel to facilitate the operational end of closing process, and ensure accurate issuance of physical certs
•    Coordinate with custodian banks, agents, legal counsel, trustees, 3rd Party Investment Mgrs and internal teams to drive an efficient closing process
•    Monitor capital calls and internal directives to manage timely fundings
•    Ensure accurate modeling of Security Master data in Bloomberg AIM and Investment Accounting systems 
•    Coordinate with custodians, brokers, and internal teams to resolve position breaks, cash flow mismatches, and pricing discrepancies.

•    Support new 3rd Party onboarding and asset transition projects
•    Demonstrate knowledge varied asset classes, including Private Placements, Bank Loans, CLOs, ABS and more
•    Conduct income, position, and Security Master reconciliations regularly
•    Work directly with front office (trade floor & credit analysts) to handle issues and inquiries
•    Embrace continuous improvement
•    Collaborate with teams across the firm to support strategic goals
•    Manage onboarding of new investments to ensure they are accurately included in all internal systems and relevant terms are tracked
•    Work closely with Accounting, Compliance and Audit teams to ensure compliance with established controls and of best practices
•    Conduct deep-dive research on income and position discrepancies, coordinate closely with internal teams and utilize advanced problem-solving skills to resolve and remain attentive to opportunities for added efficiencies.
•    Possess a strong knowledge of each security traded by PL and its Entities, including  settlement mechanics, Security Master terms, cashflow models, ratings
•    Exhibit a strong understanding of Operational risks, downstream impact of errors, inaccurate data, insufficient controls
•    Demonstrate an understanding of the end-to-end workflow of several operational areas including trade capture, trade confirmation, corporate actions, trade and position reconciliations 
•    Demonstrate and represent Subject Matter Expertise in all facets of the Investment Operations workflow, including regulatory framework and its application to investment operations.
The experience you bring:

 •    5+ years fixed income experience working in Investment operations/middle office role in asset management, Hedge Fund, or investment banking
•    College degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent work experience.
•    Thorough understanding of Investment Operations, new concepts and regulations and technology being used, including trading workflows and typical systems involved
•    Knowledge of standard legal docs related to Private Placement and Bank Loan Settlements.
•    Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
•    Self-motivated, strong planner and organizer.
•    Working knowledge of the following systems: Bloomberg, Excel, ePAM, MS Office Suite
•    Professional interpersonal, networking, and communication skills:  must be able to efficiently work in a fast-paced environment. 
•    Ability to work with internal and external counsel and/or senior investment professionals to resolve complex issues.
•    Work in a team environment as well as autonomously to meet strict deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
•    Research, problem solving, and resolution skills, including familiarity with legal documents and internal files related to securities owned.

•    Familiarity with Private Placement re-registration process
•    Prior involvement with coordinating Asset Transfers, Free Receipts and Free Deliveries
•    Proficiency with Nexen, Bloomberg AIM, Excel, ePAM, SQL, Power BI, Power Automate

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$48.33 - $59.07
