Are you passionate about making complex technology accessible? We're looking for an experienced Senior Manager of Technical Writing to lead a team dedicated to creating clear, compelling, and user-friendly documentation. In this role, you'll shape the strategy, development, and delivery of high-quality content that helps our customers successfully build and deploy AI agents on our automation platform. Your work will span our entire product ecosystem—from detailed API documentation to intuitive in-product guides—ensuring users have the knowledge they need to succeed. Who you’ll report to:

This role will report to our VP, UX Design and Documentation

Location: 

Hybrid role with regular onsite work at our San Jose, CA office required

You will make an impact by being responsible for:

• Leading and mentoring: Managing a team of talented technical writers, fostering their growth and development through coaching, feedback, and performance management
• Developing and implementing a content strategy: Defining the vision, goals, and roadmap for our technical documentation, ensuring alignment with product releases, marketing initiatives, and customer needs
• Overseeing all aspects of documentation creation: Guiding the team in planning, writing, editing, and publishing a wide range of content, including; product and API documentation, in-product guides, walkthroughs, and tutorials
• Driving content excellence: Establishing and enforcing style guides, quality standards, and content governance processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and clarity across all documentation
• Championing user-centered design: Advocating for the user experience in all aspects of documentation, ensuring content is accessible, engaging, and effective in helping users achieve their goals
• Collaborating cross-functionally: Partnering closely with product management, engineering, marketing, and customer support to gather information, understand user needs, and ensure documentation is aligned with product development cycles
• Measuring and analyzing content effectiveness: Tracking key metrics to assess the impact of documentation on user engagement, product adoption, and support costs
• Staying ahead of the curve: Continuously researching and evaluating new tools, technologies, and industry best practices to improve content quality and team efficiency

You will be a great fit if you have: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, Business, or a related field
• 10+ years of overall work experience, with at least 8+ years in technical writing
• 3+ years in a leadership role, with proven experience managing and mentoring a team of writers
• Familiar with AI concepts, technologies, and applications
• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
• Experience with API documentation and developer tools
• Significant experience working with a product engagement solution (e.g. Pendo, Walkme)
• Familiarity with content management systems, authoring tools and product engagement platforms
• Understanding of user-centered design principles
• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment a plus
• Experience with video tutorials or interactive learning experiences a plus

The base salary range for this position in California, New York, and Washington is $175,000 – $190,000 and outside of those locations is $165,000 – 180,000 a year. The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors. This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, equity and a full range of medical and other benefits.
