The Senior Manager of Procurement plays a key role in developing and executing procurement strategies aligned with the company's goals. You will manage procurement activities, vendor relationships, and contribute to the execution of policies that drive cost-effective purchasing and compliance. In this role, you will oversee procurement processes, provide leadership to the team, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure procurement objectives are met efficiently and effectively.


This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for:

  • 7+ years of experience in procurement, vendor management, or a related field within a SaaS, technology, or start-up environment
  • At least 2-3 years of experience leading or managing a procurement team
  • Proven track record in developing and executing long-term procurement strategies.
  • Experience with software rationalization and technology procurement is highly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated experience with managing contracts and vendor performance with a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building and optimizing procurement processes, with a focus on SaaS and technology-related procurement.
  • Strong negotiation and collaboration skills, with the ability to drive consensus and achieve favorable outcomes in vendor relationships.
  • Proficient in procurement software and tools, with an ability to leverage technology to enhance efficiency and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

What you can expect:

  • Strategic Procurement Management:
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Director, Finance Ops to help develop and execute a procurement strategy that aligns with 1Password’s business objectives.
  • Lead procurement efforts, with a focus on technology and software contracts, by supporting the development and implementation of sourcing strategies, including supplier selection, negotiations, and contract management.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on cost-saving initiatives related to the execution of procurement strategic initiatives
  • Translate procurement goals into actionable projects and initiatives, ensuring timely execution to meet organizational needs.
  • Focus on optimizing procurement outcomes, balancing cost-effectiveness, policy compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide leadership to the procurement team by offering direction, resources, and support to help them grow professionally and meet performance objectives. 
  • Vendor Relationship Management:
  • Proactively identify and manage risks associated with key vendors, ensuring performance is in line with contractual agreements (e.g., SLAs, MSAs).
  • Oversee the vendor relationship lifecycle, including contract renewals, performance reviews, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices, using this knowledge to enhance procurement processes and improve team performance.
  • Cross Collaboration:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., IT, legal, security, FP&A) to understand and support their procurement needs.
  • Collaborate with department heads to align procurement activities with business goals and to provide effective procurement support for new initiatives and make recommendations on programs to reduce supplier costs, project manage contract development and approval processes.
  • Process and Policy Development:
  • Lead efforts to streamline and improve P2P processes, aligning them with best practices and organizational goals.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new procurement policies and ensure successful adoption across the organization through training and communication.
  • Regularly assess and update procurement policies to ensure they remain relevant and effective, and that compliance, security, and privacy requirements are met.
  • Cost Control, Savings and Reporting:
  • Drive initiatives to control procurement spend and foster a culture focused on long-term cost savings.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to optimize procurement costs without sacrificing quality or service levels, aiming to meet annual savings targets.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to track vendor spending, monitor savings initiatives, and identify areas for further cost reductions.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on procurement activities, cost savings, vendor performance, and policy adherence.
  • Systems and Tooling:
  • Own and manage Zip procurement platform. Lead the ongoing optimization and improvement of the Zip system, ensuring seamless integration with procurement processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for enhancement, implement upgrades, and drive efficiencies. 

USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $154,000 USD and $208,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.


Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $132,000 CAD and $178,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

While we are a remote-first company, occasional travel for in-person engagement will be a part of this role. Frequency will depend on role and responsibilities, and may include, but is not limited to, annual department-wide offsites, team meetings, and customer/industry events. These events will typically be held in varying locations across Canada and the US.
