Summary

The Senior Manager of Employee Engagement will lead the new Employee Engagement team and serve as a strategic and collaborative member of the Human Resources and Marketing & Communications organizations. This leader will promote USIC’s employee value proposition internally and externally, and partner with stakeholders to drive up employee engagement and commitment of our 13,000 employees across the US.  Investing in employee engagement supports USIC’s purpose and values and increases retention, leading to greater safety, productivity, and quality performance.  USIC aspires to be the #1 career destination within the underground locating and advanced infrastructure services industry where employees can develop long-term career success.   The Senior Manager of Employee Engagement will work cross functionally with other leaders to develop, implement, and champion programs that will increase employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the HRLT Steering Committee to design and execute employee engagement strategies that align with company values, culture, and overall business objectives
  • Lead and develop an effective Employee Engagement team that will develop and drive programs that improve employee experience with measurable improvements to the candidate pipeline, engagement scores, and retention
  • Partner with all areas of Human Resources, Operations, Marketing, and other functions as needed to execute employee experience strategies and drive execution to deliver measurable results
  • Lead the development of employee experience journey maps to assess USIC’s strengths and weaknesses. These end-to-end journey maps will extend from an external candidate’s first impression of USIC to the point of long-term career success
  • Analyze employee feedback, engagement surveys, and HR metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Provide guidance and lead action planning on employee survey results to enhance workplace satisfaction and retention
  • Partner with Marketing to develop and manage internal communication strategies to ensure employees are informed, connected, and aligned with company goals
  • Provide regular business updates for leadership including metrics, benchmarking, qualitative employee feedback, and progress indicators 
  • Support transition and change management for any USIC initiative that impacts the employee experience.  Provide employee engagement support to any future M&A integration initiatives
  • Deliver project results that meet requirements and are delivered within designated timelines and budgets

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communications, Marketing or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience, 5+ years of managerial experience
  • Proven track record of successfully building awareness on key organizational issues and presenting a relevant solution while guiding stakeholders through collaborative shared decision-making processes
  • Possesses strong and effective project and change management skills that foster personal and professional growth, champions innovation and accountability, and advances the capabilities of a high-performing team
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic, collaborative environment supporting high-growth and fast-paced business units and an employee base that is distributed across the US
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks and successfully prioritize delivering results in the face of competing business interests
  • Self-starter; ability to execute with limited direct guidance or detailed requirements
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Possesses established leadership skills and can develop productive and influential partnerships, network, and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including field employees, senior leadership, and outside business associates
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to gather qualitative and quantitative data and perform detailed data analysis for informed decision making
  • Ability to conduct external research to identify industry best practices that may be useful for USIC
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional communication skills and people skills
  • Indianapolis headquarters office based
  • Ability to travel as needed
