About the Role:
Reporting to the Director - Billing to Cash, the candidate plays a crucial role in supporting and delivering a key part of PointClickCare’s working capital strategy. The candidate will lead a large team of professionals at both a team leader and an individual contributor level to achieve collections goals.
The candidate has strong business acumen & emotional intelligence. The candidate enjoys engaging in internal and external customer interactions and does not shy away from tough conversations. The candidate takes pride in proactively resolving customer issues and delivering a positive customer experience.
Meet the Finance Team
Key Responsibilities:
- People Leadership:
- Lead a team of 12-15 comprising of team leaders and individual contributors to achieve monthly, quarterly, and yearly KPI's for accounts receivable (AR)/collections in the Senior Care business.
- Responsible for people management of team members, including goal setting, OKR development, performance reviews, people and skills development, and ongoing coaching to a diverse team.
- Responsible to ensure org design of the AR team is aligned to our organization objectives; to ensure role clarity amongst team members.
- Delivering Cash Collection Goals/Support Overall Working Capital Objective:
- The role is expected to proactively devise operational strategy to achieve collections and DSO goals. This includes staying aware of internal and external factors that affect collection risks and adjusting the strategy according to these factors.
- Responsible for end-to-end collections processes – including leading escalated customer conversations, resolution of high risks, complex escalated accounts, negotiation of settlements & repayment plans, bad debt recovery via 3rd party agencies.
- This role will be required to collaborate cross functionally with teams inside and outside of the Finance function at varying levels of the organization to resolve customer issues, to develop scalable solutions and to optimize upstream processes that can reduce and/or resolve AR risks.
- Reporting & Analytics:
- This role is expected to leverage data analytics to drive outcomes.
- Responsible for setting, analyzing and achieving the cash collection target goals – in conjunction with the overall working capital strategy.
- Responsible for the on-going and month-end AR performance analytics for the Senior Care business. Reporting also includes individual and team performance, status of AR Escalation program and the 3rd party collections status.
- Leading Continuous Improvements – Process & Systems:
- To lead process improvements including system transformation goals supporting the Director, Billing to Cash to drive continuous efficiency and improvements for the team with the objective of scaling operations.
- Be the subject matter expert on future system implementations, new acquisitions and projects related to AR; to partner with technical project teams to influence system and process design for the future.
- To identify, document, and implement process improvements based off industry best practices to improve department performance, working cross-functional with internal partners leadership to implement changes and support on going improvements.
- Leading Other Sub-specialty Areas:
- The role will execute processes related to bankruptcy and receivership customer management. As well, the role will lead the collateral access agreement program in partnership with the Legal team.
Required Experience:
- Degree/diploma in Accounting, Finance or Business
- 8 years AR/Collections experience, with a minimum of 3yearsof people managing leadership experience
- Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate and manage a diverse team
- Experience leading teams through change
- Effective communication skills and ability to influence Snr leadership level internally and externally
- Strong and proven negotiation skills
- Strong analytics & reporting capabilities and system competencies
- Ability to balance high motivation and coaching for high performance
- Proficient in Excel
- Basic accounting understanding of AR and Bad Debt
Bonus Experience:
- Billing Platform, Salesforce and NetSuite experience
- Experience in supporting external audit in the context of AR
