As Academy’s Senior Manager of Accounting Systems & Processes, you will be primarily responsible for directing and overseeing the activities of Academy’s accounting systems and managing Oracle Financials system and reporting controls functionalities.

Job Description:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/MIS
  • MBA a plus
  • CPA preferred

Work Experiences:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Accounting, Finance, or systems experience
  • Retail experience a plus

Skills:

  • Relevant experience in accounting, finance, or similar field working in finance systems and scaling system processes for public corporation
  • Possess and demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills to effectively communicate with different audiences and bridge the gap between business users and technical teams
  • Strong analytic capabilities, accounting and systems analysis, critical thinking, and technical competencies, including a strong functional understanding of finance systems, end to end accounting processes, including record to report accounting processes landscape (including US GAAP, reporting guidance, consolidations, and intercompany transactions)
  • Experience with all aspects of system implementation, including requirement review, solution/design review, system training, cutover and go live activities
  • Ability to think strategically about systems and data with an understanding of accounting cycles and database relationships with accounting systems and processes
  • Organized, strategic thinking, problem solving and analytical with high attention to detail, adept at working in a fast-paced environment, able to follow and execute a project schedule while demonstrating a continuous improvement mindset and excel at leading multiple priorities concurrently, working in a growing organization
  • Proven project management success utilizing technology and automation
  • Hands on SQL, dashboards, reporting skills. Highly proficient in Oracle, Alteryx, Power BI and other data visualization and RPA tools to automate processes. Practical experience in executing system implementations and digital finance automation projects. Proficient with MS Office Suite applications

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute critical priorities for Corporate Accounting/Finance team by driving finance system projects and enhancements
  • Implement and/or optimize financial information systems, integrating continuous improvement, and data analytics into our culture. Work directly with cross-functional teams, including cross functional stakeholders throughout Accounting and IT organizations to analyze and evaluate current state systems, and define future state processes based on business needs and system functionality
  • Prioritize opportunities to expand the digital capabilities of finance via digital tools to support optimizations of integrations, helping to drive continuous improvement throughout the organization. Leverage leading practices and stay up to date on trends of technology changes in finance and accounting and bring in those solutions
  • Manage system implementations and enhancements lifecycle across all phases (design, build, test, deploy) ensuring clearly defined project scope and requirements aligning to objectives, provide input of detailed project plans, identify, and communicate upstream and downstream system and related process impacts, gaps, risk, and dependencies. Lead development for future system enhancements and changes to automate and streamline processes leveraging technology-based solutions
  • Identify gaps and provide technical expertise in business requirements for system functional specifications and scale new and current systems, processes, and procedures in a cost-effective manner
  • Identify risks and continuously contribute to the development and enhancement of processes to enable enhanced controls design, making sure accounting policies and requirements are accurately reflected in the Systems application. Develop process documentation, user documentation, system training, and support procedures
  • Provide support on the finance systems operational tasks, including but not limited to monitoring of bugs and issues, ensuring the issues are resolved timely, and conducting retrospective review of close issues
  • Implement future enhancements and changes to streamline, automate, and transform the financial statement close process, driving efficiency efforts to help accounting with optimizing consolidation and month end close. Lead day to day execution of ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned Lead multiple projects in multiple domains with reduced direction from manager
  • Accountable for spearheading the Oracle Financials systems reporting functionality
  • Provide product, project, operational and business overview, including risks, to management in the form of meetings and presentations. Influence and drive change with cross functional teams and across matrix to ensure comprehensive project coverage
  • Manage risks, prioritize effectively, and work to resolve issues timely
  • Support various accounting and reporting system related projects as a project manager and from a business owner perspective, including concept development, requirement identification, user acceptance testing, and production implementation from a process and operational standpoint
  • Provide data and reporting requirements for complex projects, develop reporting models for accounting and operational management of the product
  • Direct the optimization and administration of reconciliation system and journal entry approval tool
  • Create governance for accounting master data and delivering best practices for automation usage within the accounting organization
  • Contribute to the leadership team for the development and improvement of accounting technologies
  • Prepare various reports for management both on a periodic and ad-hoc basis
  • Partner with Finance leadership to develop and implement accounting solutions
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures and safety rules
  • Responsibilities may change; Team members may be required to perform other tasks as assigned
