Position Overview

The Senior Logistics Specialist will provide broad support to the Logistics and Distribution organization, with a focus on ensuring inbound and outbound shipments are delivered timely and in compliance. This position works closely with the lab operations, clinical operations, commercial operations, manufacturing, supply chain, and environmental health & safety teams.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Exercise logistics support through standard practices and processes.
  • Identify and resolve issues as they arise in logistics.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of enterprise systems and technologies used for trade compliance programs and logistics operations.
  • Provide daily operational support to the logistics and warehouse teams to ensure shipments are processed timely and properly so sample stability and project timelines are not affected.
  • Provide on-the-job training and support of the enterprise strategies to ensure hazardous materials and  dangerous goods are shipped and transported safely and in compliance.
  • Identify areas of improvement in companies supply chain.
  • Analyze, interpret, and implement key performance metrics for logistics partners.
  • Provide data analysis updates and reports to management in support of tactical and strategic initiatives.
  • Communicate cross-functionally to investigate, research, and resolve all exceptions promptly and include any necessary coordination with other departments.
  • Establish and implement corrective and preventative actions through continuous improvement initiatives including, but not limited to, leading significant projects on cross-functional teams.
  • Build rapport and maintain effective working relationships with other departments.
  • Maintain excellent interdepartmental communication.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds for approximately 5% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field as outlined in the essential duties; or Associates Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field as outlined in the essential duties and 2 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree; or High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of experience working in logistics.
  • Demonstrated understanding of UPS, FedEx, and DHL systems for domestic and international shipments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of less than load (LTL) and full truckload (FTL) carriers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in Japan without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a biotech manufacturing, GMP, and/or ISO13485 environment.
  • Experience shipping dangerous goods.
  • Experience with cold chain shipping.

Employment Term: This role includes a 3-month probationary period during which employment conditions remain unchanged. Employment is on an indefinite-term contract, and a one-month notice period is required for voluntary resignation, in accordance with company policy. Employees may be required to work overtime based on business needs, including occasional holiday and weekend work, with compensation provided per company policy and local labor regulation.

Salary Range:

6 546 000 ¥ - 9 818 000 ¥

The annual base salary shown is a national range for this position on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. Additionally, this role includes either 30 hours of overtime per month or 10 hours of midnight work per month, depending on the position. This position is also eligible for a bonus.
