Job Description
Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is seeking a Sr. People Business Partner to join our People Team. The Sr. People Business Partner is a key contributor to Applied's talent management strategy as the organization builds, aligns and scales a proactive and strategic HR function to meet the ongoing needs of the business.
The People Team is responsible for the development, administration and delivery of business solutions and programs related to Applied's human capital strategy and people practices, including: talent acquisition, learning and development, people operations, communications and culture, employee relations, benefits, and compensation.
The Sr. People Business Partner contributes to company performance by providing strategic and tactical consulting and support on people and organization development initiatives and services. Communicating and collaborating proactively with our People Team Centers of Excellence (COEs) and business leadership, the Sr. People Business Partner develops integrated talent management solutions designed to help the business achieve their goals. They develop business acumen about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its challenges to serve as a trusted advisor to their leadership team(s).
What You'll Do

  • Provide thought leadership and strategic insights to client leaders on people-related considerations that support and align with business objectives
  • Modify and implement talent strategies for assigned client groups, and create sustained solutions to talent related opportunities and challenges
  • Assist in the development of the next generation of leaders through talent management, and succession and development planning
  • Ensure leaders understand the value and impact they have on increasing employee engagement to drive business results
  • Implement and support company-wide employee engagement initiatives, localizing them as needed; Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Act as a liaison between the business unit and the People Team COEs to support the needs of both teams
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit organizational design, restructuring and workforce planning, including communications and change management support
  • Participate in planning and decision-making processes with the talent acquisition team to align recruitment goals with business needs; collaborate with the team to assess effectiveness of recruitment strategies and suggest alternatives as necessary
  • In partnership with Finance, support client leaders in headcount and people-related budget adherence
  • Act as liaison between business leadership and Talent Acquisition teams in the recruitment process; providing guidance and consultation on hiring decisions and offers, in partnership with the Compensation team where needed.
  • Partner with the Employee Relations team to provide performance management guidance to managers, including coaching, counseling, career development, performance improvement plans, and as needed, decisions to terminate employment
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the People Operations Team to develop solutions, programs and policies; provide reporting on HR metrics to client leaders
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal department as needed/required.


What You'll Need to Succeed
We're looking for someone who:

  • Has 7+ years of Human Resources generalist experience, in a Business Partner, HR Management or similar role
  • Holds a Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in HR or related fields
  • Is able to travel up to 10-15%


Your experience should include some or all of the following:

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including talent acquisition, talent development, compensation practices, organizational development, performance management, employee relations, and federal and state respective employment laws
  • Experience with one or more HRIS systems, experience with UKG/UltiPro a plus
  • Successful track record of working and thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced and changing environment that is results oriented and collaborative
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with leaders
  • Skilled at simultaneously managing both strategic initiatives and the execution of day-to-day deliverables
  • Intermediate to advanced MS office skills, including PowerPoint


Additionally, you may have:

  • Experience in a software or tech firm
  • PHR or SPHR certifications
