Senior Financial Analyst - R&D Support
Headquarters is in Santa Clara, CA. This is an onsite position minimum 3 days a week (Tue-Thur)
SI-BONE® is focused on helping patients in one of the most under-served, under-diagnosed, and under-treated areas in orthopedics, the sacroiliac (SI) joint. SI-BONE developed an innovative, patented implant to fuse the SI joint. The iFuse Implant System® provides a less invasive alternative to traditional sacroiliac (SI) joint fusion surgery and has been used in over 90,000 procedures to date.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Senior Financial Analyst to support our Research & Development (R&D) function. This role will be pivotal in driving financial performance and strategic decision-making within our R&D division. You will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and providing insightful analysis to support R&D initiatives and product development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the R&D function, ensuring alignment with overall corporate strategy.
- Strategic Business Partnering: Collaborate closely with R&D leadership and cross-functional teams to provide financial insights, identify risks, and drive strategic initiatives.
- Expense Management & Variance Analysis: Monitor R&D expenditures, perform detailed variance analysis, and provide recommendations to optimize spending.
- Financial Modeling: Develop financial models to evaluate R&D investments, project returns, and assess potential risks and opportunities.
- Performance Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including key metrics and performance indicators relevant to R&D.
- Ad-hoc Analysis: Provide in-depth financial analysis and support for ad-hoc projects, including scenario planning, cost-benefit analysis, and strategic decision support.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting accuracy and efficiency within the R&D function.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure compliance with financial policies, controls, and procedures while maintaining accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), with a focus on R&D or product development support preferred.
- Strong financial modeling skills with expertise in Excel and financial planning systems (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Hyperion, or similar tools).
- Experience supporting R&D or product development in the medical device, biotech, or high-tech industry is highly desirable.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and influence strategic decision-making.
- High attention to detail, proactive problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Salary range: $123,000 - 139,000. The compensation range for this position is specific to the location and is in good faith what SI-BONE expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
