Senior Cloud Engineer
EKN Engineering is fast-growing civil engineering and technology consulting company seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer. An ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, a product mindset, and takes a hands-on approach for driving engineering best practices.
Role Overview: As a Senior Could Engineer, you will design and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure, and implement best practices for CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), logging, monitoring, and automation. You will have a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, customizing them to help our business remain secure and efficient.
About the Team
The EKN software development team is responsible for architecting, implementing, testing, deploying, and supporting SAAS solutions that align with customer and product requirements to bring innovation to life.
What You’ll Do
· Technical Leadership: Guide the development and architecture of EKN’s DevOps platform. Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams. Assess and identify risks that may be present to achieving the team’s larger goals. Document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
· Collaborate/Partner: Work in partnership with our software development teams and leaders to identify and implement optimal cloud-based solutions for the company.
· Quality & Security Focused: Drive implementation of functionally appropriate and technically sound solutions meeting all quality & security standards.
· Problem Solving: Identify and resolve technical problems. Utilize analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex challenges.
· Continuous Improvement: Be part of the team to achieve collective goals, providing regular feedback, and driving continuous improvement. You will participate in all aspects of our software development lifecycle for cloud-based solutions, including planning, defining requirements, developing, and testing those solutions with the team. Evaluate new technologies, tools, and platforms used to manage, control cost, and secure our cloud platform.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
· 5+ years of DevOps experience, with a focus on AWS
· Experience with cloud environments (e.g. AWS) and Infrastructure as Code principles and tools (e.g. Terraform or similar infrastructure as code tools)
· Strong experience with AWS services such as EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda
· Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
· Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
· Solid understanding of networking, security, and system administration
· Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or similar tools
· Experience with version control systems such as Git or similar tools
· Experience with Jira or similar tools
· Solid scripting skills in languages such as Python or Bash
· Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
· Strong communication with a collaborative, customer-focused mindset
Preferred Qualifications
· Prior experience as a software developer, including full-stack AWS Cloud Native development with Typescript and/or Python
· Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog, Sentry or CloudWatch
· Knowledge of database management and optimization

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Federal Trade Commission warn that employment scams such as this are a growing cyber threat. EKN urges anyone who is contacted about employment opportunities to exercise caution and know that:
· All communication from EKN Engineering will be from an EKN employee using the @eknengineering.com email domain. We do not use third-party recruiters.
· EKN Engineering recruiters will only schedule interviews for candidates who have applied for a position through our secure portal.
