The Senior Data Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing all aspects of the enterprise data architecture for the organization including standardizing processes and protocols. The Senior Data Architect oversees and guides all mechanisms related to the orchestration and processing of data between production systems, the data and analytics platform, and across various consumption patterns. This role requires a deep understanding of data modeling, modern cloud-native data design, and data integration techniques. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data management, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.This position will be based out of our Tampa, FL office.Principal Responsibilities:Data Architecture Design:

  • Alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Define and manage the data architecture framework, standards, and principles, including modeling, metadata, data security, reference, and master data.
  • Define reference architecture, and models to provide a common vocabulary, reusable components, and industry best practices.
  • Design and implement scalable, robust, and secure data models and database solutions. Including conceptual and fully detailed logical data models.
  • Partner with Data Management to define data standards, guidelines, and best practices for data management and governance.

Data Integration:

  • Create solution frameworks for integrating large or complex data sets.
  • Oversee the integration of data from various sources, ensuring data consistency, quality, and reliability.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to design and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to support data warehousing and analytics.
  • Facilitate data modeling efforts within DataBricks, including the design of data structures and the aid with identification of business transformation logic.
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to ensure seamless data flow across systems.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, and analysts to understand data requirements and design solutions that meet their needs.
  • Develop and implement a data architecture roadmap that aligns with the organization’s strategic objectives, providing a clear vision for the evolution of data solutions and ensuring they support long-term business goals
  • Supports the Data and Analytics department to optimize data lake, data warehouse, Lakehouse, and data orchestration processes and practices.
  • Collaborate with the BI and Analytics teams on creating the optimized, reusable semantic model, complete with metadata and lineage information.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data architects and other team members.
  • Contribute to assessment of appropriate data platform(s) and solutions.
  • Act as a thought leader by staying current on industry trends and contribute to innovation strategies by exploring, investigating, recommending, benchmarking and implementing new data centric technologies for the platform.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, processes, and standards.
  • Create and maintain data-related documentation (e.g. data dictionaries, data maps, data models etc.)
  • Educate cross-functional teams on data best practices and empower them to leverage data-driven insights for strategic decision-making across the organization
  • Generate reports and dashboards to provide insights into data usage, performance, and quality

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Ten or more years in the data architecture and systems engineering arenas including ten years in a senior position, responsible for owning the strategy and execution of data architectures.
  • Deep technical expertise in database/dataset management with at least ten years managing data integrations across multiple platforms.
  • Experience with cloud-based and cloud-native data architectures, databases, and orchestration tools required.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is highly preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS, Azure, Databricks).
  • Strong experience with data modeling tools and techniques.
  • Expertise in ETL/ELT tools and processes.
  • SDLC and change control processes and tools (Agile, CI/CD, GitHub, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Knowledge of semi structured and unstructured data architectures and schema on read techniques preferred.
  • Databricks experience strongly preferred.
