About the role:

We’re seeking a Senior Content Strategy Manager to lead the content function at Embark, setting the strategy and overseeing execution across owned and paid channels. This role is equal parts strategic leadership and hands-on content creation and management. You’ll play a critical role in storytelling, campaign development, product marketing, and long-term content planning.

You’ll work closely with teams across marketing, science, and product, and have a track record as a strong individual contributor. This is an exciting opportunity for a content leader who thrives on collaboration, can think holistically about the customer journey, and is energized by building systems for scale and has an appetite to write impactful stories. 

What you’ll do:

Content Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead Embark’s content strategy and manage the content function, including both short and long form content for website, blogs and app, to support customers throughout the pre- and post-purchase journey.
  • Partner with design to bring campaigns to life through story-driven, cohesive creative
  • Work with growth team and PMM to develop content for integrated campaigns, across email, social, web, blog, and paid
  • Lead content strategy and execution for new product and feature launches, developing blog posts, in-app content, and messaging that clearly communicates value to customers across multiple channels
  • Build strong partnerships with internal subject matter experts, including scientists and veterinarians, and guide content through the review process to ensure scientific accuracy and compliance.

Execution & Operational Excellence

  • Build and maintain a scalable content ecosystem, establishing a reliable network of freelance writers, external partners, and tools (including AI) to support content production and execution at scale.
  • Manage content contributors, like freelance copywriters, assign projects and ensure that all content produced is on brand and consistent with Embark style
  • Maintain and expand copy banks (e.g., brand messaging, product copy, campaign headlines) and develop messaging libraries for repeatable use cases while working closely with PMM

Content Planning, Optimization & Brand Alignment

  • Oversee blog content planning, creation, optimization, and performance
  • Monitor SEO performance, conduct keyword research, and optimize content to generate and maintain organic traffic to Embark’s website
  • Ensure all content reflects Embark’s brand tone and voice; adapting messaging as needed across channels while maintaining consistency and clarity.

Experience we’re looking for:

  • 6–8 years of experience in content strategy, editorial, or brand marketing in a B2C or DTC company
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on content creation and project oversight
  • Experience building and managing a scalable content ecosystem, including freelance writers, agencies, and tools like AI to support content creation and execution at scale.
  • Experience working collaboratively across an organization, with product marketing, CRM, product, science and design teams
  • Has used Google Analytics, SEO tools, or other analytics software to measure and report on content performance 
  • Strong writing and editing skills, especially in brand voice, campaign, and product storytelling

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing content for scientific or technical products 
  • Experience launching or scaling content personalization
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (Contentful a plus)
  • Experience developing mobile app content a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in pet care a plus

Salary: $117k - 135k
