Job Summary
We seek a highly motivated Sr. Business Analyst to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions for onboard applications. As the Sr. Business Analyst, you're responsible for understanding, analyzing, and generating business and functional requirements documents and consequently delivering them to production. As the liaison between the business and IT departments, the Senior BA ensures that the scope of work requested to enhance or modify existing application processes is documented, communicated, and validated.
Essential Functions
- Maintain and support the architecture of the onboard applications including the Property management System, Crew recruitment system, POS systems, procurement systems, marine applications
- Manage the product releases for all critical applications, such as PMS/POS, according to corporate SDLC.
- Conducts business analysis for new product releases and new projects.
- Analyzes and documents detailed business requirements including data and non-functional requirements.
- Ensure traceability between business and functional requirements.
- Document functional requirements utilizing various techniques including use cases, data flow diagrams, swim lanes diagrams, workflow diagrams, screen mock-ups, etc.
- Validate system design against requirements and create test cases.
- Conduct gap analysis and downstream impact exercises for system changes.
- Serve as a first point of contact for development staff to understand requirements specifically during the implementation/coding phases.
- Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of business processes and applications, customer needs, and priorities. Make suggestions on business process improvements to promote business growth and efficiency.
- Build and maintain relationships with key business, IT stakeholders, team members, vendors, and other departments involved in the projects, and manage expectations.
- Promote a constructive, positive team environment and maintain a spirit of openness, information sharing, inquisitiveness, problem-solving, and support for our common goals.
Competency
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst - Proficient with standard business analysis, business process definition, and project management concepts and tools
- Experience in managing and supporting an onboard property management system (PMS) and point of sales system(POS) are a must
- Experience in cruise technology and relative processes preferred
- Possess understanding in the areas of application programming, database, and system design
- Understands Internet, Intranet, and client/server architectures
- Understands how legacy and web-based systems interface with each other
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Excellent PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- Proven problem-solving and strong analytical skills
- Ability to reconcile initiatives with business strategies and goals; competence with common analysis techniques
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to build and maintain good rapport with internal and external customers and handle situations with confidence, tact, and resourcefulness
- Flexible, adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced office environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with vendors to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions with project management.
