The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Big Data Engineer for full-time W2 position, who is proficient in Big Data tools and technologies. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional proficiency in building scalable big data applications and have a knack for solving complex problems. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our big data systems used to aggregate and process tremendously large datasets.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, code, test, and deploy software services and data structures to support the Big Data platform.
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of big data applications.
- Collaborate across teams to shape data engineering best practices and set standards.
- Implement data processing and analytics logic in Big Data systems.
- Work with data analysts and managers to understand data requirements and develop solutions for big data handling.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in Big Data and related technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Hive.
- Expertise in SQL, Python, or other scripting languages.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) big data technologies (EMR, S3, Redshift).
- Exceptional communication and team-work skills.
Nice-to-haves:
- Advanced Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Certification in Big Data or related technologies.
- Experience in the use of project management and strategic planning tools.
- Familiarity with Kafka and NoSQL databases.
- Prior experience in customer-facing roles or tech consulting.
