Primary Function

The Sr Advance & Expense Management Analyst plays a critical role in overseeing the company’s expenses and advances, ensuring alignment with budgetary and financial objectives. Key responsibilities include tracking, reconciling, and reporting on expenses, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and maintaining accurate financial records. Additionally, the Senior Analyst is tasked with preparing and reviewing financial reports, analyzing account balances, and resolving discrepancies to support the company’s financial integrity. The role of a Sr Advance & Expense Management Analyst will be expected not only to excel in managing the company’s finances but also to serve as a mentor and leader for junior analysts. The Sr Advance & Expense Management Analyst will also be expected to be a subject matter expert (SME) and be a go-to resource for complex issues, with the ability to solve problems with minimal supervision.

Principal Duties:

  • Review and analyze financial statements to identify potential company risks and propose cost saving strategies to senior leadership.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to expense management by implementing appropriate controls and safeguards.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of expense management processes, including the use of technology and automation.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management, providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Lead and mentor a team of junior expense management analysts by fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the company's general ledger to the servicing system.
  • Coordinate with the different business units and monitor advance activity to prevent ageing advances.
  • Manage the Freddie Advance Management Program (AMP) advance process for monthly reimbursement and transfer of advances.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ corporate finance experience.
  • 5+ years Mortgage Servicing experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent time management skills to complete multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
