We are looking for a collaborative and detail-oriented candidate interested in the intersection of product and retail/fashion to join our team as a Senior Accountant. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience at a large accounting firm and / or in a similar role at a high-growth startup. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for helping us make critical financial decisions by collecting, tracking, and recording the company's financial results. This person will serve as a bridge between finance and departmental functions at Ghost. Ghost is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, with a second office located in New York, where this position is located.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring 100% accuracy of accounting and financial data by collaborating with sales, merchandising, and product teams.
- Taking the reins of the full accounts payable cycle, managing new vendors, invoices, and payables with precision.
- Overseeing accounts receivable and managing collections from buyers.
- Supporting month, quarter, and year-end closes by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
- Preparing schedules and maintaining reconciliation for Prepaids, Accrued Expenses, Fixed Assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Collaborating with merchandise and sales teams to ensure accurate reporting of managed and consignment inventory, along with all transaction data.
- Acting as the finance team's liaison in the New York office, managing expenses, keeping leadership informed, and fostering a healthy spend culture for future endeavors.
- Establishing and managing vendor and buyer compliance processes.
- Responding to information requests and providing support during audits.
- Preparing special financial reports, showcasing your keen analysis of account information and trends.
Qualifications:
- You bring 3-5 years of relevant experience, ideally from a large accounting firm or a startup.
- Experience with NetSuite is a major plus.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting is essential.
- Your written and verbal communication skills are second to none.
- Your keen eye for detail and knack for numbers make you an analytical genius.
- A self-starter, you excel at multitasking, prioritizing, and executing tasks without micro-management, all while proactively seeking assistance when needed.
- You are comfortable with a 5-day in-office workweek (this role will originally be based in Brooklyn, but the office will be moving to Manhattan later this year.)
Compensation range for this role: $105,000 - $135,000
