Job Summary

The Senior Accountant supports the accounting department in carrying out all associated accounting responsibilities. This individual is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing complex financial analysis, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and mentoring junior staff.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of both the performance and development of the accounts payable team.
  • Responsible for expense accruals and improving process for more efficient month-end close.
  • Processing weekly check runs for multiple business units.
  • Responsible for lease accounting schedules and reconciliations.
  • Prepare adjusting and closing entries for month end close while performing any reconciliations.
  • Research and correct any out-of-balance situations between the GL and sub-ledger.
  • Develop recommendations to optimize company's ap/expense process and procedures and detect inefficiencies.
  • Assist in the month, quarter and year end closing process.
  • Aid in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors
  • Adhere to and enhance the internal controls of the accounting department
  • Perform ad-hoc projects, as necessary.

 

Requirements & Skills:

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in accounting or a related field.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., CPA) will be preferred.
  • Experience in Oracle Fusion accounting software or similar accounting software.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills required.
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written & verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • The employee may frequently be required to sit and talk or hear
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
