Job Summary
The Specialist, Hazard Communication (HazCom) is responsible for hazard and transport classifications for documents including Safety Data Sheets, Labels, Dangerous Goods Transportation, and Poison Center Notifications. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and providing accurate information to stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Hazard and Transport Classification: Classify products using data from industry associations, vendors, regulatory mandates, and the IFF Toxicology team. Complete classifications daily based on priority.
- SDS and GHS Label Authoring: Create and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Globally Harmonized System (GHS) labels.
- Poison Control Notification (PCN): Manage PCN as required for products marketed in the EU or Korea.
- Customer Support: Provide exceptional support for inquiries and specific document requests, typically originating from the shared mailbox, on a daily basis.
- Additional HazCom Duties: Perform other HazCom-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: 3-5 years in a relevant field.
- Education: BSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology (with a focus on Organic Chemistry).
- Language Skills: Advanced level of English.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
- Experience: 5 years in regulatory affairs.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with SAP, the WERCS, Global Dangerous Goods regulations, and the Globally Harmonized System for Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS).
- Documentation Skills: Proficiency in creating and managing Material Safety Data Sheets.
