About the location:
The 123-room Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto is the company’s second destination in Japan, in the city’s historic Higashiyama-ku district, close to the Kyoto National Museum and myriad heritage sites such as the Toyokuni Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple. Local artists are featured throughout the traditionally-inspired modern décor characterised by an understated Japanese aesthetic. The Hotel has a spa and fitness centre with a pool, and four food and beverage concepts. There are also be 57 Four Seasons Private Residences.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Previous experience overseeing Bar or Lounge operation in the luxury hotel within ability to deliver quality of service. Excellent oral and written English communication skills. Computer skills. Good understanding of Micros and Avero.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assistant Department Head position is in charge for all beverage related operation in all area including Banquet. Assist Sommelier/Bartender at F&B outlets and Banquet to support the operation and lead the team by example and for the team’s development To fully participate in the development and implementation in all beverage-related operations. To plan ahead and take an initiative to organize the bar and beverage trainings To be seen as the “Craftsmanship of Four Seasons” – from a sales & marketing perspective, ensuring all stakeholders are kept up to date with product and sales & marketing initiatives. To establish a documented tactical plan of deliverables for the beverage operation reviewed monthly with Director of Food and Beverage. To research market opportunities and develop strategies to penetrate companies/organizations specific to the Bar and Beverage market. Work closely and directly report to Director of Food & Beverage and Communication. To develop and maintain all communications on/off line in accordance to brand guidelines and in conjunction with Director of Food & Beverage. To ensure a coordinated marketing approach for the hotel beverage operation with Sommelier/Bartender in outlets and Banquet. To entertain potential and existing clients in F&B operations when required or appropriate. To develop credibility by planning and conducting external sales. To keep up-to-date records of account base performance and regularly review and forecast business performance. To research and compile accurate and appropriate local guests’ databases. To coordinate digital media campaigns and adhering to brand guidelines. To effectively promote all elements of the Bar and Beverage Operation. To ensure the correct portrayal of the company image at all times. To adhere to the sales and marketing minimum operating standards. The ability to evaluate, solicit, sell and confirm business as required meeting individual goals and overall budgeted beverage sales and profitability. The ability to report on a monthly basis against plan/goal. The ability to keep supervisors promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so prompt corrective action can be taken where appropriate. The ability to maintain assigned files in accordance to guidelines outlined in account coverage programs. The ability to participate in department meetings and related industry related organizations to represent the hotel and company.
STANDARD DUTIES:
To ensure you read the hotel’s employee handbook and have an understanding of and adhere on the hotel’s rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety. To undertake other duties and responsibilities which, while outside the normal routine, are within the overall scope of the position. To report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform/ attire and name badge. To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene and adhere to the hotel and department personal appearance standards. To provide a friendly, courteous and professional service at all times. To comply with local legislation as required. To maintain good working relationships with your colleagues and all other departments through working by the Golden Rule. To be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capability as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments/ areas if required, to meet business demands and guest service needs. To attend training and meetings as and when required. To ensure, as directed by Director of F&B, and following completion of your initial job training. To respond to any changes in the department as dictated by the needs of the industry. Company or hotel. Be a brand ambassador to Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts at all times, both in and out of the hotel. Be a brand representative of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts if/ when travelling on business. Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by senior hotel management. The ability to maintain a professional appearance at all times and to conduct personal behavior in a mature professional business manner when representing the hotel or company. The ability to respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
