Summary Generated by Built In

Are you technical, but looking for an opportunity that brings you closer to the needs of - and value delivered to - the customer? Looking for a culture that enables you to bring your whole self while challenging you to improve further (and giving you the resources to do so)?

If so, we’d love for you to become Modulate’s first Solutions Engineer. This is primarily a customer facing role and sits within the Business Development team, reporting directly to our VP of Sales. In addition to working directly with customers as a trusted advisor, you'll also be coordinating with our Engineering teams to improve the usability and effectiveness of the product. Our customers run the gamut from AAA game studios to worldwide enterprises to financial institutions, so you’ll get a front row seat to learning about the technologies that make each industry and customer tick…and get to bring your creativity and passion to the cause of helping them accelerate adoption of a unique AI-driven solution that will uplevel their business and improve the lives of their users. As this is the first Solutions Engineer role, you will have direct say in how this capability grows and evolves at Modulate - your feedback to leadership will contribute directly to long-term strategic planning. We are serious about supporting our team members in their desired career trajectory and are excited to hear about how you want to grow!

The salary for this position is set at $125,000/yr. While we strongly prefer that candidates for this role are in the Boston area and able to meet our hybrid office policy (relocation is available), they may be based anywhere in the U.S., ideally within a convenient distance to larger technology hubs like LA, Seattle, Boston, New York, or Raleigh. A willingness to travel is required.

To avoid losing progress on your application, please feel free to complete responses separately in a local or cloud-saved document. If you encounter an error, any responses entered in the fields on the application will not be saved.

No unsolicited agencies, please!

  • Work with Customer Success & Sales to guide closed and trial-stage customers through integration, customization, and optimization of our technology for their unique use cases
  • Where appropriate, develop tools to assist our customers and partners in using our solutions to their fullest, or coordinate with our internal tech team to appropriately prioritize the development of new features and capabilities
  • Contribute to longer-term strategic planning within the company and provide feedback to leadership that helps prioritize new markets and use cases to pursue

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in acting as a technical resource for Sales and Customer Success in meetings with customers
  • Experience collaborating directly with customers to support everything from trials to the integration of our SDKs and using various APIs to share and receive data

  • Expertise in at least one C-like programming language (Python, C, C++, Java, C#, PHP or similar)
  • Familiarity with version control, continuous integration, and other software development practices
  • A passion for documentation that will help systematize your work
  • Ability to debug systems and triage technical issues
  • Willingness to travel to conferences or customer on-sites in support Sales & CS

  • Experience with production cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred but not required)
  • Familiarity with audio processing technologies (codecs, WebRTC, Twilio, etc.)
  • Experience with game development in Unity or Unreal game engines
  • Experience specifically with C++ library development

NOTE for the questions "Your fit for the role", "Your values/goals", and "Why Modulate?" on the following form:

Please avoid disclosing any details which would directly reveal your race, age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or other protected demographic status. We are only looking for information which directly relates to your ability to succeed in the given role. For this same reason, resumes will be redacted before review during the initial steps of the hiring process, as it’s been shown that resumes often lead to strong biases in hiring processes.

Additionally, we want to hear from YOU! While we understand the convenience of productivity tools and generative AI to help apply, please note that any submissions with substantial overlap or duplication with other applicant profiles will NOT be considered.
