Purpose of the role

To design, develop, and implement solutions to complex business problems, collaborating with stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements, and design and implement solutions that meet those needs and create solutions that balance technology risks against business delivery, driving consistency. 

Accountabilities

  • Design and development of solutions as products that can evolve, meeting business requirements that align with modern software engineering practices and automated delivery tooling. This includes identification and implementation of the technologies and platforms.
  • Targeted design activities that apply an appropriate workload placement strategy and maximise the benefit of cloud capabilities such as elasticity, serverless, containerisation etc.
  • Best practice designs incorporating security principles (such as defence in depth and reduction of blast radius) that meet the Bank’s resiliency expectations.
  • Solutions that appropriately balance risks and controls to deliver the agreed business and technology value.
  • Adoption of standardised solutions where they fit. If no standard solutions fit, feed into their ongoing evolution where appropriate.
  • Fault finding and performance issues support to operational support teams, leveraging available tooling.
  • Solution design impact assessment in terms of risk, capacity and cost impact, inc. estimation of project change and ongoing run costs.
  • Development of the requisite architecture inputs required to comply with the banks governance processes, including design artefacts required for architecture, privacy, security and records management governance processes.

What will you be doing?

Barclays Services LLC seeks Solution Architect in Wilmington, DE (multiple positions available):

1.           Drive data strategy for building end-to-end On premises and Cloud solutions for Data Warehouse products.

2.           Analysis of required data services and tools including cloud services, POC’s, working with global forums on best practices and guidelines, doing high level data architecting, building the cloud applications and creating a finished data fabric product.

3.           Present solutions to senior leadership and business teams and act as a liaison with varied COEs and architect community within the organization.

4.           Design, sustain and enhance Barclays data architecture, which includes defining how data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and IT systems, as well as applications using or processing that data, generally concerned with inter system data design and data dependencies.

5.           Create Cloud Data Architecture to unify varied data sources within the organization, for transforming data into meaningful data assets for Data Querying, Analytics and Data visualization requirements.

6.           Manage Data Architects and Data Modelers across various applications to make sure end-to-end solution complies with Group Data Management and Record Management standards.

7.           Manage up to three (3) direct reports, overseeing their work to ensure business deliverables are met timely and accurately.

8.           May Telecommute.

You will be working at our Wilmington, Delaware location at 125 S. West Street.  Barclays' Wilmington campus includes two beautiful buildings located along the historic Wilmington, DE Riverfront. A glance out our windows reveal a scenic look at the Christiana River, along with a growing riverfront community of luxury apartments, shops, and restaurants.
