DUAL have created a new strategic distribution channel, Regional Commercial, and are executing plans to expand existing products, create new products, and implement operational efficiencies to make this distribution channel a success. As part of this DUAL have created a new position and are looking for a talented and experienced Solution Architect to fulfil this role and support DUAL Regional Commercial's implementation projects by providing high quality technological solutions that meet with Howden and DUAL standards.

The new Solution Architect reports into DUAL’s Head of Architecture and is a passionate, self-sufficient solutions expert that communicates well at all levels, and as well as providing solutions can contribute to and/or create architectural standards that support the business now and into the future.

Principal Responsibilities

We will be counting on our Solution Architect to:

  • Create technological solutions to business propositions utilising available applications, platforms, and standards; collaborate with other subject matter experts to ensure the solution is of high quality

  • Work with various governance bodies such as Information Security and Data Protection Office to ensure their solutions comply with their standards and guidance

  • Lead infrastructure, development, and project teams in the implementation of their solutions ensuring the solution as designed is implemented; actively participate in sprint planning and retrospectives

  • Present at DUAL Technical Design Authority forums to seek approval from fellow stakeholders in the solution, which includes colleagues from the business, operations, and IT

  • Present at Howden Architecture Review Boards to seek approval of architects, platforms owners, and other impacted stakeholders at group level

  • Review the solutions of peers and provide constructive feedback

  • Lead the non-functional evaluation of new applications and platforms, highlighting the benefits and risks of each candidate offering and making a recommendation as to which should be implemented

  • Evaluate vendors on the quality of their products, support, skill, and capabilities

Qualifications and Experience

Our ideal team-mate has:

  • 15+ years’ experience in IT delivery and 10+ years’ experience of working as a solution architect

  • Expertise and awareness of trends across technology and enterprise solutions

  • Experience with SalesForce.com, SalesForce Industries, SalesForce Experience Cloud, SalesForce Financial Force

  • Experience with applications and integrations developed on .Net

  • Experience with Azure both as IaaS and PaaS

  • Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and PowerBI

  • A working knowledge of cloud platforms as well as traditional development platforms with exposure to a variety of technologies

  • Experience in at least one major transformation programme

  • Experience working in the insurance industry, especially an MGA

  • Experience delivering at high velocity using modern methodologies

  • Experience delivering applications with modern architectures such as distributed applications and cloud-native deployment

  • Experience and fluent understanding of the TOGAF domains

  • Masters or bachelor’s in computer science, software engineering, or similar
