Department OverviewInnovation is the oxygen of our company, and in 2023, we invested more than US$850 million in research and development (R&D). We’re now opening a new Research & Development Centre in Cork, Ireland focused on designing software for the company’s comprehensive land mobile radio (LMR) portfolio, with plans for expansion across other technologies in the future.

Job Description

We're looking for a skilled, software engineer who is passionate about leading the development of embedded systems. Your experience and technical guidance will be instrumental in leading our dynamic teams to advance our portfolio of communication devices, ensuring we provide our customers with innovative and reliable products.

  • Lead an Agile/Scrum team to design, implement, and test new two-way radio products and features.

  • Analyze software requirements to determine feasibility of design within quality assurance, time and cost constraints.

  • Lead a team in a multi-site, world-wide development environment.

  • Use secure programming practices to create mission critical and reusable software.

  • Participation in peer reviews.

  • Develop intellectual property.

  • Finding, tracking, and repairing RTOS device software defects.

  • Create and execute unit, integration, system, load, and acceptance tests.

  • Drive improvements of existing mature software development processes.


Basic Requirements

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in C++.

  • Experience in real-time embedded software.

  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.

  • Experience using version control; Git is a plus.

  • Experience with Linux is a plus.

  • Experience in communications protocols (USB, TCP/IP, BT, LTE, WiFi) is a plus.

  • Experience in Test Driven Development is a plus.

  • Experience with the use of test equipment such as logic analyzers, serial data analyzers, oscilloscopes etc.) is a plus.

  • Experience with embedded development/debug tools (such as emulators/JTAG, etc.) is a plus.

Basic requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

  • Significant experience of software development/testing experience and Team Leadership Experience.
