Software QA Engineer

The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer is responsible for automating functional test execution and performing manual testing. The role requires mastery of complex business processes, as well as the ability to execute and debug robust, dependable tests for applications. Additionally, the QA Engineer will be responsible for writing comprehensive test plans for the company’s applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop automated tests and test plans under the direct supervision of the team manager
• Collaborate with engineers to understand the systems under test
• Test applications in both Windows and Linux environments
• Execute automated and performance test scripts, and review the results
• Evaluate responses from engineering teams on reported issues and take appropriate actions
• Oversee release testing, product maintenance releases, and new development projects
• Perform manual tests as needed according to test plans and acceptance criteria
• Work within the SCRUM framework as part of the development team

Essential Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience testing commercial applications and APIs in a Linux environment
• Proficiency in writing basic SQL queries (any SQL dialect)
• Experience working in both Linux and Windows environments
• Hands-on experience executing automated tests
• Familiarity with source code versioning systems (Git, SVN, Perforce)
• Strong understanding of QA principles and methodologies, with the ability to apply this knowledge to practical QA challenges
• Exposure to testing web services (REST)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding or experience with object-oriented programming
• Experience with test automation, preferably using Python
• Familiarity with high-traffic sites or services
• Exposure to Agile and SCRUM methodologies
• Experience with JIRA or other ticketing/bug tracking systems
• Experience with various API testing tools
• Experience with release management
