About the Role

We are looking for a Software QA Engineer who is passionate about our mission and is ready to take responsibility for the quality of products that can save people's lives. Quality is at the core of Empatica; as a Software QA Engineer, you will help designing and executing manual and automatic tests to make sure that new features are correctly implemented according to design and specifications.

Your contribution to the mission

  • Hunt down all the bugs with your QA logic mindset!
  • Assess and ensure the quality level of every new release of our apps.
  • Perform tests on mobile platforms connected to a wireless wearable device, with the mindset of our end-user.
  • Expect to find problems, and propose solutions, not just to verify that everything is working as designed.
  • Design, implement, and extend automation test scenarios for mobile phones and wearable devices.
  • Validate every functionality of the product, you'll have the chance to learn how a state-of-the-art medical device works inside and out.
  • Report issues and anomalies.
  • Try to recreate failure scenarios and collect as much information as possible about the issue.
  • Perform regression tests whenever a new release comes addressing issues or adding new features.
  • Work with the product team to design, execute, and enhance release and testing plans.
  • Support the growth and consolidation of the Quality culture within Empatica.

  • Empatica is an international environment with offices in Europe and the US, and so we conduct all our work in English.
  • We are operating a hybrid model where our employees choose whether to work from home or come to the office.
Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position:

  • Has more than 3 years of experience in Manual Software Testing
  • Has an IT background and knows how computer systems work under the hood (e.g., networking, OS, Authentication, RESTful services)
  • Has experience in mobile testing for iOS and Android (knowledge of both platforms is a huge plus)
  • Knows how to effectively collaborate with developers
  • Is able to understand and use scripts and automations that might support the tests
  • Is excited when finding unexpected problems!
  • Is not afraid to try and explore parts of the system that might not be fully covered

  • Prior experience working on firmware testing and embedded devices is plus
  • Has knowledge of web and API testing
  • Worked in a regulated environment (e.g., medical, automotive, aerospace, finance)
