The Role:
At Proofpoint we are concerned with protecting our customers from threats and data loss. Our Core DLP engineering team is looking to hire a Software QA Engineering Intern. Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is at the very center of cyber security as it focuses on identifying the data hackers are seeking and corporations most want to protect. The Core DLP team is working on building the central DLP engine, policy and dashboard needed to be a leader in the Enterprise DLP market.
As a Software QA Engineer intern, you will:
- Work closely with a Senior QA Engineer to test code.
- Responsible for carefully reading the software engineer’s written acceptance tests and execute them precisely.
- Asked to identify any gaps that need to be tested that weren’t specifically requested and test those as well.
- Carefully coordinate the build and deployments of the engineering feature branches in the Staging environment and ensure “master” branches are restored after testing is complete.
- Work directly with the software engineering team to move development stories through the various statuses in JIRA to help close them out in a timely manner.
- You will also work with the Product Manager when you need to get clarification on requirements and the Engineering Manager when you need help prioritizing QA tasks.
- You will become intimately familiar with the software development life cycle and the agile processes and methodologies prevalent in the industry.
Job Requirements:
- Working on a degree in a relevant STEM major like computer science
- Ability to work 20 hours a week during the school year and full-time during the summer of 2024
- Ability to take direction from Senior QA Engineers
- Ability to communicate clearly with the Software Engineering and Product management teams
- Strong work ethic and willingness to be thorough and methodical in your task execution
- Create mind and an eagerness to find test scenarios that may have been missed
Candidate Profile:
You have the ability and interest in working full-time (a maximum of 40 hours/week) in our Draper, UT office, in accordance with the company’s hybrid policy. You are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree and are successfully maintaining an above average GPA. This part-time internship is scheduled to run through the summer and following school year.
