What We'll Bring:
This is a position for a Software Engineering Manager who will provide technical and personnel leadership to a team of software developers and QA engineers that will architect, design, develop and test software applications within the TransUnion TruContact program for its Trusted Call Solutions, which includes
development of critical services in the field of voice and data applications to global carriers and enterprises.
What You'll Bring:
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for working with US-based counterparts, Engineering Director, DevOps team, Operations, EPMO, Product Management, Business Development group, and end Customers to help develop applications and infrastructure for Telecommunications applications. Candidate must have leadership experience in providing mentorship and technical leadership to such software teams and have experience working with product teams to determine functional requirements, software architecting, design, and building enterprise class, web based, reporting and provisioning systems in Java, and good understanding of the telecommunications domain.

Responsibilities/Key Tasks
• Technical Domain/Leadership:
o Have a solid understanding of the product and markets of the products you are responsible for to enable you to be a good business partner to your colleagues in Product Management, Sales and Marketing and to enable you to make good context based decisions.
o Have a solid understanding of the architecture and performance characteristics of your products.
o Expertise in building Software-As-A-Service solutions, and in running/deploying Cloud-based Network and Service architectures.
o Experience in building services for data provisioning, reporting, web-based applications, analytics, and APIs.
o Experience in building and managing the delivery of Telco grade applications that are highly available and highly scalable.
o Expertise in offering services that run in virtualized environments in private or public clouds, containerized applications and services.
• Product Delivery:
o Manage teams that follow Agile SDLC processes, provide guidance and leadership with a focus on continuous improvement, build and test automation, continuous integration and deployment.
o Ensure that Engineering delivery plans and schedules are in alignment with Product Management direction.o Deliver high quality product releases on time within allocated budget.
• Team Culture:
o Create and maintain a team culture characterized by a high level of performance and productivity.
o Regularly communicate the goals, plans, expectations and performance metrics to the team.
o Recruitment - including leveraging personal network to attract and retain key talent.
o Training, mentoring and development of top-quality talent across his / her organization.
• Internal Communications:
o Communicate clearly and regularly, both internally within the Engineering team and “externally” with Product Management on the status of all key deliverables.
o Work with Program Management Office to coordinate activities with other functional groups to achieve Product Line objectives. This includes Network Engineering and Operations, Customer Support, Solutions Engineering, Core Hosting, and Corporate IT.
Impact You'll Make:
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
• 8+ years of experience developing complex, reliable software systems based on Java, out of which 3+ years of experience should be as a technical manager.
• Experience leading teams in an Agile development process/environment.
• Technical expertise in Java/JSPs/JDBC and OO Methodology.
• Experience with Tomcat, Spring, preferably having Spring MVC/Spring Boot experience.
• Strong experience in building applications to support micro services based architecture using Cloud-native technologies.
• Expertise with Relational Databases and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with IDE. Eclipse is preferred.
• Experience working on and developing software for Linux platforms.
• Complete development life cycle experience from design through implementation.
• Creative, flexible, and able to fill multiple functions within a development team.
• Proven track record of successfully designing and developing enterprise class systems with stringent availability, performance and SLA requirements.
• Demonstrated experience of software development in enterprise-grade web-based applications
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• Flexible, able to work on multiple projects at the same time.
• Experience in telecommunications systems and protocols.
• Experience in deploying micro-services in various environments (Public/Private Cloud, On-premises in customer domain) using modern techniques of CI/CD
Job Qualifications: (professional and/or technical certifications, education)
• Required:
o Bachelor’s (B.S) or Master’s (M.S) degree in Computer Science or related field
This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
