Mulesoft is looking for a seasoned Engineering Director to lead a team of Software Engineers that ensure the quality and performance across Mulesoft's portfolio of products. The team drives quality and performance practices across key cross functional products. They support and enable engineering service teams in building quality into products delivered to customers. Championing shift left testing, equipping service teams with the right skill sets to self-serve themselves. Figuring out how to plan and execute the capacity of a small but talented team of quality and performance engineers to support a large development organization and many products. Possess strong knowledge of how to approach testing cloud based enterprise software as well as how to distribute people on work and support their success. A successful candidate is someone who has experience building engineering teams at scale, has deep experience with SaaS enterprise platforms, knows the right metrics to measure success, demonstrates strong execution amidst competing priorities, and a respected servant leader.
You are a passionate and influential leader who can lead a team of diverse, smart and driven engineers to rapidly deliver high quality products while successfully balancing business requirements and priorities. You will collaborate with engineering and product leaders to define and execute on a quality/performance strategy. The team functions in an Agile Development Environment by focusing on business facing tests that critique the product. You will lead quality initiatives across the cloud by analyzing and decomposing complicated software systems and design strategies to test these systems. Improve efficiency in our quality efforts by driving engineering best practices, conducting research on emerging technologies, and building advanced automated test suites to exercise our world-class applications. You are a deep thinker with a natural curiosity to learn our customers' business and a dedicated advocate for great customer experience and extraordinary quality at scale in complex environments. You will also have a strong analytical approach and will drive actions at the right level to ensure that we can maximize engineering productivity while delivering a stable, secure, and performant experience to our customers. Finally, you will be responsible for clear and courageous communication at all levels about the delivery risk and quality outlook of our products.
Responsibilities:

Ability to lead and positively challenge a team of talented engineers who like to ship quality performant enterprise software and tackle hard engineering problems

Build efficient and healthy teams, drive agile excellence, and able to serve as a scrum master

Collaborate with Product Management, UX, Operations, and other stakeholders to develop a vision and roadmap for the Quality of products delivered

Drive a cross team collaborative work environment with other Mulesoft engineering managers that fosters autonomy, inclusivity, innovation, learning, respect and transparency while holding a high bar for delivery

Cultivate a team culture of ownership, empowerment, and innovation

Hire, develop, and grow the talent in the team with the right expectations

Drive scalable and extensible architecture along with good product development practices

Work closely with Support and key customer production issues and resolutions

Demonstrate problem solving and technical innovation through "rolling-up sleeves" and "getting hands dirty"
Requirements:
-
8+ years in a software engineering leadership position with experience in managing junior and senior level engineers
-
5+ years of QE and PE experience with a core focus in either large scale distributed systems or full stack SaaS services
-
5+ years of hands-on technical leadership experience in quality engineering practices, test automation, CI/CD, SDLC, etc...
-
5+ years of experience working as a trusted partner with cross-functional leaders, including product and project management, development and/or DevOps, performance engineering, UX, documentation, etc. Be able to influence and change competing priorities into win-win scenarios with partner teams to ensure high-fidelity product releases.

The person needs to understand technology and be able to lead the team in driving technical discussions and provide necessary directions.

Proven ability to align a vision, lead, and measure success through data Metrics, KPIs, etc...

Experience on AWS and K8s technologies in real-time data pipeline processing and data warehouses

Excellent communication and presentation skills across technical and non-technical audiences

Critical eye for product design, well-versed in good design principles especially around data applications

Ability to adapt and handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Expert experience with Agile development methodologies, certified scrum master preferred

Ability to drive a project throughout the full software development lifecycle

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
