The Role

The Software Engineer in Test (SET) plays a crucial role in designing, developing, and executing automated testing frameworks and tools, ensuring the quality and reliability of software applications. This position requires close collaboration with software development, DevOps, and QA teams to identify opportunities where automation and AI-driven testing can enhance efficiency, coverage, and overall product quality. Experience with AI-powered testing tools, such as self-healing test automation, anomaly detection, and predictive analytics, is highly valuable.

As a SET, you will leverage your software engineering expertise to create test code, develop intelligent automation systems, and integrate AI-based testing solutions into the continuous integration (CI) pipeline. This role demands a deep understanding of test automation, software development best practices, and modern testing methodologies, with a focus on utilizing AI to optimize test execution, defect detection, and software validation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable and reliable automated test frameworks for functional, integration, regression and performance testing;
• Develop and integrate AI-powered testing solutions to enhance test automation, including self-healing test scripts, predictive defect detection, and anomaly identification;
• Leverage machine learning algorithms to optimize test coverage, analyze test results, and improve the efficiency of continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines;
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases;
• Work with DevOps teams to integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipelines, ensuring continuous testing throughout the software development lifecycle;
• Perform manual testing where necessary, especially in complex scenarios or new features where automated testing may not be feasible initially;
• Identify, document, and track software defects in collaboration with the development teams to ensure timely resolutions;
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality standards for automated tests and testing frameworks;
• Analyze test results, generate reports and track key quality metrics to ensure transparency on the quality and stability of software releases;
• Identify opportunities for test automation, process improvements and testing best practices to enhance overall product quality and testing efficiency.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field;
• 2+ years of experience in software development, test automation or software quality engineering;
• Familiarity with machine learning techniques for test optimization, including predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and AI-based defect classification;
• Experience with AI-driven testing tools such as Selenium with AI enhancements, Mabl for automated visual and functional testing;
• Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools and processes;
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (Java is preferred);
• Experience with test automation tools and frameworks like Selenium, Appium, Maven, Gradle, Cucumber, Rest API or similar;
• Familiarity with continuous integration tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and version control systems (e.g. Git);
• Experience with defect tracking and test case management tools (Jira is preferred);
• Strong knowledge of API testing tools (e.g. Postman, REST-assured) and good understanding of RESTful services;
• Ability to write and execute SQL queries for validating data integrity and back-end functionality;
• Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter, Gatling or similar will be considered a plus;
• Strong interpersonal, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
